Not content to wait for manufacturers to get in to shape and update our phones to the latest and greatest versions of Android, most of us here at Android Police have had a brush with a number of custom ROMs in the past.

Whether it's the latest version of Cyanogen or a more obscure mod, there is always a ROM floating around on my phone, and until now I've always had to uninstall one before installing the other. Fortunately, that's about to change thanks to a new application on the Market called BootManager.

This article deals with a couple of advanced topics.

Netflix this evening appears to have quietly unleashed the Android app on 16 more previously unsupported devices, all without updating the application at all.

The whole situation threw us off quite a bit, as the Netflix app description now lists both the new devices and a reference to a new version 1.3, while the app itself is still stuck at 1.2.2.

Nevertheless, after trying to find it in the Market using devices that were previously unsupported (HTC EVO 3D and Thunderbolt), to our pleasant surprise, we succeeded. So... it seems that Netflix indeed simply updated the list in the Market publishing console without updating the app at all, which means it was compatible with all of them all along.

Just in time for the release of the HTC myTouch 4G Slide, T-Mobile USA has announced its new Value plans, which will be available from July 24 with up to 10GB of high speed data to make smartphones more affordable for the masses and less confusing for customers.

If you sign up to a two-year agreement with the network, you will be able to choose a plan which offers a selection of talk options, unlimited texting and unlimited data. That unlimited data doesn't have any fair usage policies attached, but it will only be high speed for the first 2GB, 5GB or 10GB that you use, depending on your plan.

AlphaRevX, the same team that unlocked and provided full S-OFF for the Incredible S, Desire (GSM and CDMA), Wildfire, Aria, Incredible 2, and Desire S, are back again in a big way: with a full unlock, S-OFF and permanent root for the Sensation. Have a look:

AlphaRevX have already stated that they have full root and S-OFF for the EVO 3D as well, although we're not sure if it uses the same method, as the download has yet to be released.

While the official Gingerbread OTA for the Incredible 2 started rolling out a couple of days ago, there are some users running a previously leaked version of 2.3 that are left out in the cold with no way of updating - until now, that is. Thanks to an anonymous tipster calling himself Pig Benis, we've gotten a hold of the official RUU from Verizon with the build number 2.18.605.4 (the same as the OTA) for your flashing pleasure.

This will get you up to date with the latest as of July 13th stock build from HTC, so if you're tinkering with your device and something goes horribly awry, you can use this to save the day.

Get it while it's hot, kids - the DROID Incredible 2 is officially merged into CyanogenMod, and the nightly builds are now being pumped out (direct link here). These nightly builds may contain bugs, dragons, and other potentially annoying/broken things - so flash at your own risk. Your Dinc2 will also need to be fully unlocked, meaning you'll have to use the AlphaRevX Beta 2 software, which you can learn about in this post. And you'll need a custom recovery, which you can find here. So, you do need to do some work before you can get your CyanogenMod on.

Well look at what we found. It seems the Dinc2's Gingerbread update is on the way, and should be arriving soon - very soon. This update differs from previous leaks (though it is still Android 2.3.3), here's Verizon's breakdown of the new features:

We're not sure when this update's coming, but when Verizon tosses up these support pages, it's usually a good sign that an OTA update has been given the green light. Let's hope it doesn't take them too long. Please note, when this update does come around, it will remove root access from your phone if you're rooted - and there's no way to get it back at the moment.

Gameloft's newest gaming title, BackStab HD, is available to users of high-end Android phones, the company announced minutes ago. Thankfully, the new title, which is a bloody (oh yes it is, just watch the video below), sword-bashing 3D game that reminds us of Assassin's Creed, is available in the Android Market for $6.99, honoring Gameloft's promise to deliver more games via our preferred channel as opposed to their own off-Market web store.

Take on the role of Henry Blake, a broken man whose life was stripped away, and help in his quest for justice and revenge.

Climb, jump and sneak your way through diverse settings to reach your target and strike down adversaries.
