If you've been waiting on a new Gangstar game to hit the scene from Gameloft, the time is drawing near. The first trailer for Gangstar Rio: City of Saints hit YouTube today, full of all sorts of non-saintly stuff. It looks like a nasty, violence filled shoot-em-up, in true GTA fashion. Check it.

There's no word on City of Saints will be released, but it looks like it should be landing any day now.

Creating an aesthetically pleasing home screen for your phone or tablet has become an art in itself, and an entire ecosystem packed with widgets, themes, wallpapers, launchers, and custom ROMs has built up to support it. Sometimes, it can be tough to find a winning combination of elements to create a beautiful and enduring home screen that provides both form and function.

For this reason, we have decided to open up a call for gorgeous, well-decorated home screens of all shapes and sizes.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, previously available only on the Flexion store and for the Xperia Play, is now in the Android Market. It's the same action-filled cops vs. runners game from the 2010 remake of the old-school classic, so buckle up and get ready.

If you're tired of Angry Birds (who isn't?) but still enjoy the flick-and-break game mechanics, the allow me to turn your attention to a new game called Princess Punt. The name itself is very fitting for the game -- it's weird, quirky, and eye catching. It's more than just a kill-things-and-get-stars philosophy, too -- it also brings RPG action to the genre. The developer is calling it an action puzzle RPG, which I think is quite fitting.

Android-Money

Android’s massive worldwide popularity has, in large part, the availability of cheap, low-end handsets to thank. We all know this. In developing markets in Southeast Asia and Eastern Europe, Android powers almost all of the smartphones that are being purchased by growing numbers of prepaid subscribers.

Cheap Android phones are, for that reason alone, a great thing. They’re empowering consumers in developing economies, giving them access to the full web wherever they go - something that has generally been the privilege only of the wealthy and of Western nations in the past decade.

There were a ton of excellent entries for our first Home Screen Challenge, and whittling down all the home screens was no easy task. That's why we've chosen two winners this month - Xal and Austin C, who each showed us their own twist on a visually stimulating, yet practical home screen layout. Our winners will be contacted shortly to claim their AP shirts.

As promised, we've prepared a full overview of each of our winning home screens, highlighting each of their elements so that you too can create a home screen design that is both beautiful and functional.

With the Ideapad A1, Lenovo made it easy for those on a tight budget to get a tablet. Sure, it's no Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Transformer, but for kicking back on the couch and surfing the web, watching videos, or playing a game to kill some time, it's just what the doctor ordered. There are two versions available in the US -- 16GB and 32GB -- and the former just underwent a pricedrop over at Amazon.

A few months ago, an app called LBE Privacy Guard landed in the Android Market, which allows for fine-tuned control off app permissions, data usage, and more. It looks like the developer of said app has been hard at work since then, as a new, completely redesigned version is now available. While the name may still be same, the updated version is an entirely different listing altogether, and the previous listing has become home to a Chinese-specific version of the app.

If you're anything like me, your Android handset has completely demolished the need for an mp3 player, you're constantly adding and removing files from your device, and you find the process of plugging your phone or tablet into your computer via USB to be tedious, if not tiresome.

Luckily, there are a variety of apps in the Android Market that allow users to sync files wirelessly between their computer and Android devices.

I'm surprised this didn't come sooner, but better late than never, right? The full Galaxy Nexus (presumably GSM) system dump, together with boot and recovery images were leaked earlier today by none other than Paul O'Brien, the founder of MoDaCo, a talented developer, and creator of many custom ROMs. If you remember, previously only the apps as well as certain bits and pieces of Ice Cream Sandwich were made available for download.
