Are you ready to fight for the Imperium? Well, now you can with the new Warhammer 40k: Storm of Vengeance on Android. This game has all the pieces of Warhammer – space marines, big explosions, and so on. Though, the gameplay isn't what fans were expecting. This is a "lane-based strategy" game.
Amazon has stayed true to its promise to offer a "premium" app of the day for free every day since the launch of its Appstore. On occasion, it has even offered multiple apps, best-of apps, or apps that are tangentially related in one way or another. Today, Amazon is offering a pretty cool bundle that revolves around music – music creation, discovery, listening, etc. There are some well-known titles in this bundle, too, like Shazam Encore and TuneIn Radio Pro, just to name a couple.
One of the biggest uses for YouTube is listening to music, and it's getting a bit more convenient to do that on Android today. YouTube Mix came to the desktop last year, but someone just threw the switch to enable it on Android. Simply search for an artists and rock out.
YouTube Mix is essentially an auto-generated playlist of an artist's most popular videos on YouTube. It seems to be mostly pulling up Vevo content for established acts, but the videos can be pulled from any account.
Leading up to announcement day, HTC One M8 leaks typically showed off the Gunmetal Gray version of the device. This version has also held much of the spotlight since. But this darker, streaked variant isn't inherently an improvement (these things are subjective, after all), and there are many people who would probably prefer the shiny, silver look of the original. Well, said version of the HTC One M8 is now available from AT&T.
The Android Device Manager might get the basics taken care of, but Cerberus goes a few steps farther. It's a powerful security suite with features like SIM locking, device alarms, remote lock, remote wipe, remote picture taking, and location tracking. It would usually cost you €2.99 (about $4) for a lifetime license, but it's free for the next day in celebration of the app's third birthday.
Cerberus has robust functionality on standard devices, but it can also take advantage of root access to move to the system partition so it persists between device resets.
Well I'll be gosh-darned. The Rufus Cuff, a super-sized smartwatch-smartphone hybrid powered by Android, has met and surpassed its ambitious $200,000 crowdfunding goal. It appears that at least a thousand people or so are excited enough by the prospect of a gigantic touchscreen wrist communicator to lay their money down. I'm going to assume that at least 800 of them are extremely dedicated Turanga Leela cosplayers.
The Rufus Cuff is technically a smartwatch, because it relies on a Bluetooth-connected Android device or iPhone for data when not in range of a WiFi network.
Google is always trying new things, and one of those new things has been left where we can play with it. Yay! The LEGO redesign is an experimental sandbox for mobile search results. The overall look is a little different than the current one, but it's the animations in the results that set it apart. Check out the video below for a demo – left tab is LEGO and right is standard.
Duolingo is one of the most simplistic, visually appealing language learning experience someone can come across, and the fact that it's a mobile app they can take anywhere is just one heck of a perk. Today's update doesn't shake things up for existing users, but it has what it takes to bring in many more. Now English courses are available for people who speak Hindi as their native language, Russian speakers have the option to learn German, and German speakers are welcome to learn French.
With all of the video streaming options out there these days, it wouldn't surprise us in the slightest if Redbox isn't the first app that comes to mind when the movie-watching mood strikes. But a new app update has rolled out that freshens things up a bit for anyone who just really likes the feel of a physical disc. Now there's a wish list in the sidebar for the media that is best saved for later.
