When developers release updates to their apps without listing the changes, normally about half of the Market comments turn sour, especially considering Google added the changelog feature into the core of the Market a few months ago. When Google itself does it to one of the flagship products... let's just say things are not pretty.

Version 5.3.1 of Google Maps arrived a few hours ago without a single mention of any novelties or bug fixes.

It seems like everyone is interested in getting into the cloud music game lately, doesn't it? Clearly Sprint wanted to jump on that bandwagon as well, because this morning it announced a new music service, powered by RealNetworks, called Sprint Music Plus.

SMP will reportedly be a one stop shop for all of your music, ringtone, and ringback needs, with playlist support and a full media library, both of which can be managed from the mobile device or the web interface (which I could find no trace of, so I'm assuming that this can only be accessed from within a Sprint account).

htc_thunderbolt

There's no doubt that the HTC Thunderbolt is a hot commodity if you're on Verizon Wireless, and if you've been considering picking up this blazing fast 4G LTE device, now might be the best time hop on it. Wirefly is offering up a special deal on the TBolt if you use coupon code THUNDER0418 at checkout, which gives you $50 off (bringing the total down to $150), free shipping, and a month of free mobile hotspot (expires on May 15th).

lg-thrive-phoenix

AT&T has kind of introduced two new LG Android powered smartphones into its lineup, set to appear on April 17th - the LG Thrive and LG Phoenix. I say "kind of" because, well, they're the same phone. The Thrive is a prepaid variant, while the Phoenix is a contract-only device.

They're not really anything to brag about, but here are the specs:

  • 600MHz processor
  • 3.2 Inch screen
  • 160MB of user memory, 2GB SD card
  • 3.2MP Camera
  • Android 2.2

I guess it's not too bad when you consider the off contract price of $180 for the Thrive (okay, yes it is.

Autodesk-expands-power-of-Windows-7-certified-AutoCAD-2011-with-new-features-for-conceptual-design-and-drafting-productivity-02

If you're a designer, architect, or construction contractor (or know someone who is) then there's a good chance that you've heard of AutoCAD. For those that haven't - AutoCAD is software made for 2D/3D design and drafting - and now it's coming to Android. There has been a version available for iOS under the name AutoCAD WS for some time now, and with the increasing number of requests for an Android version, AutoDesk decided that it was time to oblige.

With a great plugin comes great responsibility - to avoid malicious Flash files, that is. A zero-day exploit has been discovered in Adobe Flash that affects all Android versions of the software, Adobe announced today.

The most common vessel for the exploit is (fortunately) a Microsoft document (.doc) email attachment with an embedded Flash file (.swf) - and I'm not aware of any Word document viewers/editors in Android that support embedded Flash.

HTC just announced via Twitter that the Sensation is a go - posting pictures on its Facebook page of the device at various seductive angles, as well as this video:

Did we mention it's coming to T-Mobile? And it'll be sporting an HSPA+ radio to take advantage of T-Mobile's 4G network. Unfortunately, it won't be available until this summer.

Earlier, Mobile Bulgaria (which, as of this writing, is down) stumbled upon a Vodafone product page for HTC's upcoming dual-core Android handset, the Sensation (aka the Pyramid).

Sprint-Motorola-XOOM-2110411225910

Boy Genius Report dropped a piece of information this afternoon confirming a long-standing suspicion that the Motorola XOOM will soon be available on America's most budget-friendly carrier, Sprint - and it'll be packing a WiMAX 4G radio.

The tip came via Sprint store employees, who found XOOM case SKUs in the Sprint inventory system, along with an actual case in an accessory shipment, as shown below.

Pricing has not yet been made public, but expect some kind of subsidy to be available with a 2-year agreement.

Skype

Well, well, well, look at what we've got here - it's none other than the elusive Skype for the HTC Thunderbolt! If you remember, Skype was supposed to be pre-installed on the Thunderbolt but didn't actually make it onto the final product. We also told you that Skype Mobile for Android with video was coming to all VZW LTE devices back in January, and it looks like we're finally getting what was promised.

The Asus EEE Pad Transformer has yet to hit US soil and it has only been out in the UK for a short amount of time, but thanks to a collaborative effort from Android hackers @PauOBrien and @BumbleDroid, it's already been rooted. The method is still very rough around the edges right now, and it's not ready for prime time use just yet - for example, there is no backup method (such as Nandroid) - but that should be coming down the pike soon.
