Looking at these specs, if I didn't know any better, I'd ballpark the price for this device somewhere around $150.

I love trying new and original-looking Android games, so when I saw Swerve And Destroy in the Play Store today, I had to take it out for a spin. Oftentimes it's the simpler games that end up being the addictive ones, causing you to miss class (you shouldn't do that) and call in sick to work (definitely don't do that), and Swerve and Destroy is no exception. OK, maybe you won't end up playing it for days on end, but it's a fun time-killer.

You have Android on your phone, tablet, and TV. But what about your car? If you're not only an Android fanatic, but a car stereo junkie, Clarion is serving up a fully loaded new car stereo system called the Mirage just for you.

The Mirage is what Clarion calls a "smart car stereo" and boasts a 6.5-inch touch display panel, runs Android 2.2, and comes with Facebook and Angry Birds pre-installed (because Facebooking and playing AB while driving is a fantastic idea, and we need to promote this sort of behavior).

Source code for Android 4.0.4 (AOSP tag android-4.0.4_r1.1), the latest incremental update with "a few hundred changes over 4.0.3," is being pushed to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) as we speak by JBQ, one of AOSP's main sourcerers (yes, I just made that word up).

This is excellent news for any ROM developers compiling their ROMs from AOSP (such as CyanogenMod) - chances are 4.0.4-based ROMs will start appearing very soon, maybe even tonight.

Sprint

Looks like Sprint is pushing some OTA updates to a couple of all-but-forgotten devices: the LG Marquee and the Kyocera Echo. We haven't really heard much about the Marquee since it was announced back in September, but it appears that Sprint hasn't forgotten about it. A minor OTA update should be rolling out to the Marquee right now that brings a couple of bug fixes:

  • Device may lockup while on call
  • Security Update

Similarly, that quirky little dual-screened oddity known as the Kyocera Echo is also on the receiving end of a minor update that fixes some issues:

  • MMS audio cuts off after 8 seconds
  • Changes to roaming guard display
  • Activation of Commercial Mobile Alert System
  • Security Update

It's probably safe to assume that the security update portion of both OTAs is the removal of Carrier IQ, which Sprint has been removing from all of its devices over the last several weeks.

The hits just keep on coming today, as Android 4.0.4 begins rolling out to the WiFi Xoom. The update carries with it a few new features, including quicker screen rotation, the ability to immediately lock the device when you press the power button and more. Users can check out the rest of the changes in the full press release below.

Thanks to some clever XDA members, the update is available for download now, if you don't feel like waiting.

Google Maps just received an update that brings a few awesome enhancements along with it. For starters, the navigation home screen has been redesigned for Android 4.0.x devices, bringing a more useful and intuitive interface. The four main options - speak destination, type destination, go home, and map - are now larger, more touch-friendly buttons and a list of recently navigated locations are directly below. A quick swipe to the from right-to-left will display all contacts with addresses, while a swipe from left-to-right will show all starred locations.

No, it's not a gangster game starring the birds from that one CGI movie. Gangster Rio: City Of Saints is Gameloft's latest addition to its collection of "games that are sort of similar to bigger game franchises you know, but aren't terrible ripoffs either." Gangstar's latest sandbox takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and offers the player all manner of weaponry and missions to satisfy their id.

For a mobile game, Gangstar Rio looks very fully-featured.

An new official update IMM76 (Android 4.0.4) is poised to roll out for the Nexus S. The update file, which weighs 18MB, can be downloaded directly from Google's servers and applied only over stock IML74K (Android 4.0.3):

post-build=google/soju/crespo:4.0.4/IMM76D/299849:user/release-keys
post-timestamp=1332707372
pre-build=google/soju/crespo:4.0.3/IML74K/239410:user/release-keys
pre-device=crespo

It has been shown to work on the i9023 variant, and we're currently trying to figure out whether it works on different flavors of the i9020. If you have the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, sorry, this update is definitely not for you - you have access to 4.0.4 already anyway.
