Aside from the OnePlus One, the YU Yureka is the other Cyanogen-running smartphone that you can buy right now. It recently got its 12 S update to Lollipop 5.0 but is now receiving another OTA with a newer version. Just don't get excited thinking it's Android 5.1, we're still on 5.0 here. The build number has jumped from YNG1TAS0W0 to YNG1TAS1K0, which is dated May 1st 2015.
The changelog sent for this update is simple: "This update provides power improvements and security enhancements for your device." Since both improvements and enhancements denote positive things, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume that the update is a good one. Read More
A new update to Google Play's "Accepted Payment Methods" page has revealed a lot of changes to the direct billing section. First and foremost is the addition of 3 new carriers in Taiwan: Chunghwa Telecom, the country's leading operator with over 11M subscribers (according to Wikipedia), as well as Asia Pacific Telecom and T Star, the fourth and fifth ranked operators, respectively. These join previously supported Taiwan Mobile and FarEasTone Telecom, which have the second and third largest subscriber base in Taiwan. Read More
Well Periscope, looks like you got beaten to the punch with this one. Your direct competitor, Meerkat, has announced its closed beta, released it, and now made the app stable enough for a 1.0 release, all without the backing of a huge company like Twitter and while you're still twiddling your thumbs saying that your Android app can wait. How 'bout that?
And it's not like Meerkat has rushed its beta or been lazy with its development. Read More

The ASUS Padfone form factors have always been incredibly interesting. It's a real shame that by the time they were picked up by a US carrier, the over-the-top modular form factor was toned down to something with a lower price tag and more mass appeal. Even so, if you'd like to check out this unique phone-tablet hardware, there's no better time than the present. Just about a week after Motorola released update notes for the second version of its Moto E budget handset, it looks like the Lollipop 5.1 update is indeed hitting the airwaves. Multiple posters on XDA have alerted their fellow users that the update (version XT1527, if you're wondering) has reached their phones. Thanks to the Moto E's off-contract nature, it should hit users on all carriers at the same time.

According to screenshots posted on the forum, the update is a bit over 250MB in size, which is practically tiny for over-the-air updates these days. Read More

Ten phones are now slated to get Lollipop by mid summer.
