Although we heard rumblings that the Prime would be delayed, some lucky customers have already received their Asus Transformer Primes, and it was briefly available (again) on Amazon before quickly selling out (again). Based on the universally glowing reviews (including my own), you're probably well aware by now that the Prime is a truly excellent piece of tech. But how does it compare to its older brother, the Transformer (TF101)?

Remember the colorful and imaginative tower defense game Jelly Defense that we took a look at several weeks ago? It just received a mighty nice update that brings some new winter-based levels, new gameplay options, new music, gameplay improvements, and performance enhancements. In other words, the developers packed quite a bit of punch into this one. Here's the full changelog:

    1. Two winter levels for Christmas evenings.
    2. Challenging endless level.
    3. New and cozy Christmas tune.

Amazon started pushing an update to the Kindle Fire yesterday, and two words that no Android geek wants to hear were muttered shortly after: breaks root. Unlike the previous update to the Fire, this update can't be re-rooted using SuperOneClick.

It's not all bad in Fire-world, though; for the un-rooted, this update brings a number of fixes and performance enhancements to the sub-$200 device:

    • You can now remove books, apps or other content from the carousel of recently used items on the home screen.

Tired of your lackluster music collection? El Goog is here to you help you remedy that with a huge sale on millions of tracks for just $0.49 in the Android Market. Buying single tracks not your style? No worries, most albums are going for a mere $4.99, too.

I searched through the Market for a few of my favorite artists - some popular, some obscure - just to see if I could find something going for more than $0.49 per track or $4.99 per album.

Samsung has finally made an official statement regarding its plans to upgrade current handsets to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android version 4.0), and the short list is indeed quite short:

    • Galaxy S II (including AT&T LTE version)
    • Galaxy Note
    • Galaxy R
    • Tab 7.0 Plus
    • Tab 7.7
    • Tab 8.9
    • Tab 10.1

Updates will start with the Galaxy S II and Note in Q1 2012, but that time frame likely applies to world versions of the phone, so those with American carrier-branded versions of the GSII will probably be waiting a little longer.

In a court filing last night demanding an early trial date for the ongoing Google v. Oracle patent litigation, Oracle claims that Android is now irreparably harming Java's market share in the mobile, TV, and tablet space. Oracle says that these are areas where Java "has traditionally been strong." News to us.

Last time I checked, cheap multimedia flip phones running Opera Mobile weren't exactly high on Google's target product list for Android, but maybe I missed the memo on that one.

Owners of Amazon's Kindle Fire tablet have a great chance to expand their gaming portfolio right now thanks to Gameloft. One of the most popular game developers for Android is offering a handful of games for just $0.99 in the Amazon Appstore, most of them special Kindle Fire editions.

Among the discounted titles are Order & Chaos, Block Breaker 3 Unlimited, UNO, and Asphalt 6: Adrenaline. Those who don't own a Kindle Fire can still get Hero of Sparta HD or Shadow Guardian HD at a deeply discounted price.

WordPress for Android was updated to version 2.0 earlier today, making on-the-fly blogging easier than ever. The update brings several new features, including a Dashboard and Quick Action Bar giving "one-tap access to everything you want to do with your blog." Additionally, the update offers an all new post editor, which comes with a sophisticated rich text formatting bar and "enhanced" media features.

The update also brings full support for Android tablets, which is huge, particularly for those users with a handy Bluetooth keyboard.

Following the example set by AT&T and T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy SII variants, Sprint's Epic 4G Touch is set to get its own white counterpart, probably in early 2012. Pocket Now speculates that the Epic 4G Touch's white version may be announced at CES.

Personally, I'm hoping Sprint has a little more to talk about at CES than their own white SII, but the paint job does look rather flattering. While the above shot is all we have to go on for now, we'll be here to cover any other details that may emerge.
