Microsoft Office Mobile Is Now Free On Android Phones For 'Home Use' Only

Almost a year ago, Microsoft released Office Mobile for Android phones to the Play Store. The caveat, of course, was that it required an Office 365 subscription in order to use the application, which was kind of a bummer.

Fast-forward to today, and you may have heard that Office is finally available for the iPad – a rumor that we've seen come and go several times over the last couple of years.

Latest LastPass Update 3.2.3 Fixes Broken Automatic Password Fill On Samsung Devices

Just a quick update for Samsung device owners who, like me, found that the LastPass app fill was unable to fill any passwords after the very exciting 3.2 update. The latest version 3.2.3, which just popped up on the Play Store, specifically addresses this bug:

What's New

v3.2.3

Fix app fill on Samsung devices. Please contact our support staff if you still have issues.

I've confirmed that the fix indeed works by successfully logging into both the Amazon app and the Amazon site in Chrome Beta on my Note 3:

Amazon Video Press Event Scheduled For Wednesday, April 2nd, Android Set-Top Box Expected

Mega-retailer Amazon has scheduled a press event for Wednesday, April 2nd in New York City. The press invitation teases the event with the phrase, "Please join us for an update on our video business from [Amazon Kindle VP] Peter Larsen." A background with a couch and a bowl of popcorn makes it clear that Amazon's sights are set squarely on the living room.

The Verge is fairly certain that the event heralds an Amazon-branded set-top box, a la Roku or Chromecast.

Reqallable Updated With Pebble Support, Lets Smartwatch Wearers Respond To Messages Without Yanking Out Their Phone

The Pebble can handle plenty of functions thanks to a wide range of third-party apps, but interacting with messages typically remains a passive experience. Naturally, someone had to address this. Reqallable, an app that provides smartwatch wearers with the ability to respond to email and text messages without pulling out their phones, has added the Pebble to its list of supported devices.

Chainfire Has Already Rooted At Least One Version Of The Galaxy S5, SuperSU App Updated For Compatibility

That was fast. Despite the fact that the Galaxy S5 won't be released for another two weeks, well-known developer and modder Chainfire has already rooted the phone. Well, at least one of the Galaxy S5s (S Fives? Galaxies S5? whatever), specifically the SM-G900F model, which seems to be the international GSM-LTE version. The root method will probably work with at least some regional and carrier variants.

To get root privileges, check out this XDA-Developers post for Chainfire's latest version of the CF-Auto-Root tool, flashable via a PC with Samsung's ODIN tool.

Star Wars: Assault Team Is Now Live In The US, Just In Case You Want A Completely Uninteresting Star Wars Card Game

Collectable card battle games are incredibly popular on the Play Store and its mobile contemporaries, perhaps only outnumbered by various Bird ripoffs of the Angry and Flappy variety. Now you can get your tedious, IAP-riddled card action on in a Star Wars flavor, because Assault Team is available in the United States (and probably a lot of other places as well). For the one guy who's been patiently waiting since the Australian test release, this is very exciting news.

2K Games Finally Drops Kindle Fire Exclusivity, Brings NBA 2K14 To The Play Store

In October of last year 2K Games released NBA 2K14 as an exclusive download for the Kindle Fire. Now here we are, some five months later, and the company has decided the time has finally come to drop the year's biggest NBA game into the Play Store. That's one hell of an exclusivity period.

Like its Amazon counterpart, the Play version of the game is going for $7.99, but the download seems to be significantly larger on Play.
