When it was confirmed that the Galaxy Nexus doesn't have Gorilla Glass, it was as if the entire world into some sort of I'm going to scratch the hell out of it hysteria. It turns out that all the kerfuffle was for nothing, as one Galaxy Nexus owner decided to put that big beautiful screen to the test.

I admit, it was a little painful to watch, but the end result was nothing less than spectacular. It turns out that Gorilla Glass isn't the only durable glass available for smartphones after all.

ASUS just unveiled the world's first quad-core Tegra 3 device, and it is a beast. It was originally scheduled to be shown off on November 9th, but as you may have heard, has been delayed until early December. Thankfully, ASUS decided to throw us a bone and offer up some nerd porn for us to drool over in the meantime.

Motorola Announces XOOM 2 And XOOM 2 Media Edition Tablets In The UK And Ireland

We've heard the rumors and seen the pictures, but Motorola just made the XOOM 2 official. Just like suspected, there are two different versions: a 10.1-inch model, geared towards enterprise and corporate users; and an 8.2-inch Media Edition, designed for movies and music playback. In terms of hardware spec, both tablets are little more than an incremental upgrade from the original XOOM:

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor (probably OMAP)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage
  • 5MP rear camera, VGA front
  • Android 3.2

Corning's New Lotus Glass Promises High-Performance, Durable Displays

Corning, the wizards behind Gorilla Glass, have done it again - earlier this week, the glass giant announced Lotus Glass, a new, durable glass designed specifically for high-performance electronic displays.

For a while now, Corning's Gorilla Glass has been a household name when it comes to mobile electronics, coming to be something of a standard, and synonymous with durability. Corning's announcement of Lotus Glass, however, is about to shake things up, offering a significant step up from the current go-to name in tough glass.

Lotus Glass' main claim to fame is its ability to perform well (and hold up) in display manufacturing, allowing it to play nice with sophisticated displays.

The Droid RAZR packs some new software features, as well, like Motorola Smart Actions, a Tasker or Locale-like automation system that can toggle radios, adjust brightness, clock speed, and more, all of which are user definable and will activate given a certain situation.
