The Rhythm Of Fighters is a quirky take on SNK's storied history of 2D brawlers... that plays like a swiping, tapping musical game. This unique title has met the same fate of other games by big publishers who apparently wanted more bang for their buck, and shifted from a paid game to free-to-play. (See Assassin's Creed Pirates and Asphalt 8 for other examples.) But if you spent the measly dollar that the game cost when it launched, don't fret: SNK is here to placate you with free stuff. As a personal user of the DROID RAZR M, I've got to say that Motorola's 2012 line of branded DROIDs have held up remarkably well. That's due in no small part to frequent and relatively speedy updates. The latest one doesn't come with a new version of Android (they're running 4.4.2 at the moment), but it does have a few security enhancements and improvements to the default messaging app.
Users of the DROID RAZR HD, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD (which has nearly identical software), and the smaller DROID RAZR M should be seeing the updates presently. Read More
It's estimated that the build-your-own-adventure sleeper hit Minecraft has sold over 50 million copies on various gaming platforms, including more than 5 million of the Pocket Edition on Android. How much would you say that Mojang, the Swedish developer co-founded by Markus "Notch" Persson, is worth? If a recent report from the Wall Street Journal is to be believed, Mojang and its properties are being acquired for a staggering two billion dollars by Microsoft. Read More
It looks like Samsung is sending the latest public version of Android 'round the houses. Yesterday the Galaxy Note 3 on Sprint got upgraded to Android 4.4.4, and according to a few end users, Verizon's flavor of the Galaxy S5 is getting it today. A long thread on the popular XDA Developers forum began a few hours ago, with multiple Galaxy S5 owners reporting the download coming in. One user posted the download link, a hefty 346MB file. Amid a flurry of news from a certain (ahem) other watch today, it looks like the powers that be at Google have matched Best Buy's price for the LG G Watch. The Android Wear device is now being sold for $179.99 in the United States, a $50 reduction over the initial price. According to promotional text on the Play Store, this reduced price will only last until September 23rd.
At the moment the G Watch is in stock and leaving the warehouse in 1-2 days. Read More
Update: Motorola responded to Ars Technica's post on the same iFixit story to explain the battery discrepancy. According to the statement, 300mAh is a "minumum rating" for the battery manufactured by Pro-Power, while 320mAh is a more typical rating. (Batteries are much less precise in terms of capacity than, say, a RAM DIMM.) The mix-up reportedly stems from the fact that they simply didn't have room for both a minimum and maximum rating on the tiny label, and erred on the side of caution - after all, end users aren't really supposed to see it.
