The original Sims was the last Sim game I played. It had two expansions and didn't extend very far beyond a single neighborhood, but the things you could create and play around with in it were fantastic. The Sims Free Play has stuck to its roots with a similarly engaging and surprisingly powerful game for a mobile platform.

The Sim games are, at their heart, about creativity. The Sims for Android packs a lot of the same creativity tools from earlier Sim games.

Fragger is a new game from Miniclip.com that gives you a pack of grenades and a phalanx of immobile terrorists and says, "Have fun!" Once you've set aside your silly ethical hang-ups about attacking helpless, faceless enemies, you might think that the game is similar to Angry Birds. It's actually a lot closer to BASIC classic, Gorillas.

ASUS Transformer owners will be forced to wait even longer for a promised update to Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0), the company revealed on its Singapore Facebook page late last night. Here's the statement:

ASUS Singapore

Dear fellow Asus members, we would like to say that we appreciate all the support we see in our Asus Facebook page every day. It makes our contributions worthwhile and fulfilling.

We are informed that the ICS upgrade for TF101 will be ready within the Feb/March 2012 period.

In case a CES announcement and a superfluously long Superbowl ad weren't quite enough to grab your attention, allow us to re-re-introduce you to the Galaxy Note. You might think you already know this device. You might think you know it as a gigantic phone or a tiny, tiny tablet. Either too big to be pocketable, or too small to be tablet-y. You're wrong. TheTechBlock is here to illuminate how.

The folks over at TheTechBlock do a far better and more eloquent job than we ever could at explaining just all the ways that the Galaxy Note can and will rock your world if you'll just give the phone with a little extra to love a chance.

cheesetiny

You know how it goes. You're sitting back in your recliner, watching your numerous security feeds, monitoring your piles and piles of cheese, when suddenly, the mice sneak in to steal all your Pepperjack and Gorgonzola! How dairy they! Also, you're a cat. That's the premise of Cheese Tower, a puzzle game that challenges you to remove square mice from a stack of square cheese without dropping any cheese.

Tapping the mice will make them disappear, causing the tower to begin to fall.

Verizon may have gotten a head start, but did you know AT&T is building an LTE network too? It's true! In fact, today the mothership activated new networks in Raleigh, NC and Tampa, FL and surrounding areas including Sarasota and Manatee counties, and Durham, NC. So, if you've been living near, but not quite in these cities, this is your time.

AT&T still has a ways to go before they reach Verizon's level of network saturation, but new markets are always welcome.

Rumors are flying left and right on the internet this morning about a potentially new tablet called the Galaxy Note 10.1 accidentally outed by Samsung in an invitation to its 'Developer Day' at Mobile World Congress. The Note moniker clearly suggests one feature that Sammy itself has already hinted at: the S-Pen.

It was my initial reaction to write this off as a simple typo, but thanks to a bit of investigative work by The Verge, it appears that this device may indeed be legitimate.

Nah-Meen Studios LLC recently released their debut game Meowch to the Android Market, bringing dynamic, cat-throwing fun to users everywhere.

The game follows the story of three stray cats, who are trying to find their way from the tops of various buildings to the ground, while simultaneously evading the grip of crazy cat ladies and animal control vans. On the way down, players will face off against power lines, bouncy awnings, and satellite dishes while trying to grab "Missing Cat" posters in a familiar "collect three stars" level system.

Verizon's list of LTE upgrades is a short one this month. Big Red is expanding its 4G LTE network in four existing markets, and only adding one new market to the mix this go around:

  • Expansion in Little Rock, AR
  • Expansion in Rapid City, SD
  • Expansion in Clarksville, TN
  • Expansion in San Antonio, TX
  • Activating 4G LTE in Cookeville, TN

We normally see between 10 and 20 new markets on Verizon's monthly upgrade schedule, but with most major metropolitan areas already covered in blazing fast LTE, VZW appears to be slowing down before blanketing the rest of the country.

Back in October of '11, Motorola confirmed the first devices set to receive Android 4.0: the RAZR, Bionic, and the XOOM. While the Wi-Fi XOOM is the only of the mentioned devices to have already received the update, Moto just added a slew of other devices to that list, including:

  • RAZR MAXX
  • Droid 4
  • Photon 4G
  • Atrix 4G
  • Atrix 2
  • Electrify
  • XOOM Family Edition
  • XOOM 2
  • XOOM (3G)
  • Xyboard 8.2 (Wi-Fi and LTE)
  • Xyboard 10.1 (Wi-Fi and LTE)
  • Admiral
  • Droid 3
  • Droid X2
  • Milestone 3
  • Pro+
  • MT917 (China)
  • XT928 (China)
  • MT870 (China)
  • XT605 (China)
  • Motoluxe/XT615/XT685
  • XT822 (China)

While the bulk of those devices are still "in evaluation and planning" (which means that they could be deemed too "underpowered" for ICS and dropped from the upgrade path altogether), an approximate release schedule is available for some.
