Hulu, one of the top TV and movie streaming sites on the web, has long been an elusive target for Android users. At first, we didn't have Flash. Once we got Flash, Hulu started blocking Flash-enabled Android devices. Many hacks followed, but required modifications to the Flash apk and resulted in less than optimal viewing experience in the browser. In January, we finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, when the upcoming official application was finally revealed, though without any promises on delivery timelines.

Notch another victory for the Android community: shortly after Motorola publicly stated they would be moving towards unlockable bootloaders - even retroactively where possible - it appears that the Gingerbread update for the Atrix does just that. Brief Mobile laid hands on a leaked early build of the Android 2.3.3 update, and to their delight, found that unlocking the bootloader was as simple as using a simple console command.

The arrival of summer brings several things: heat, sunshine, barbeques, vacations, and, of course, an update to Angry Birds Seasons! Cleverly titled "Summer Pignic," it'll be fun in the sun for the homicidal birds... or bird, rather. Judging by the video, it looks like you'll have to make it through this update with only one bird, which will make things quite interesting.

Normally, when we think about prepaid carriers, one thought comes to mind: low-end devices. Most manufacturers reserve their higher-end handsets for the Big Four, so those who don't want to empty their wallet each month on a wireless plan end up with very little to choose from when it comes to decent phones. However, that is all about to change with Huawei's upcoming Glory phone, which is set to land on Cricket Wireless this November.

To welcome the arrival of T-Mobile's newest mid-range handsets, the Samsung Exhibit 4G and Gravity SMART, Wirefly is throwing a bone out there to all who are thinking of signing up with Team Magenta. If you walk into a T-Mo retail store looking to pick up either of these devices, then you'll be shelling out $80 for the Exhibit and $70 for the Gravity SMART (or $30 if you get the plain black one), but you can grab them from Wirefly for $50 and free, respectively.

Sometimes, it's best when a game doesn't perform just one function. Especially when graphics-heavy apps charge more than usual for an experience that might grow stale, variance and depth is extremely important. The iOS port of Galaxy on Fire II has depth in spades, but is the overall experience worth the game's price?

The Gameplay

Galaxy on Fire II plays remarkably similar to a 2003 Windows game called Freelancer, in which you took on the role of an interstellar starship captain with an eye for earning money.

While I may love many, many things about Android, that doesn't mean that it lacks any annoyances. Of those annoyances, the inability to mount the SD card in the phone and PC simultaneously ranks close to the top of the list. Thankfully, there are apps like Dual Mount SD Widget to save the day.

This app is for rooted devices only.

What Dual Mount SD Widget does is quite simple, but extremely helpful: it allows you to mount your SD card to your phone and PC at the same time.

To help aspiring Android developers get off the ground and develop our next dream app, Android Police has partnered with O'Reilly Media, one of the largest technical book publishers, to give away a multitude of Android books to our readers. Each week or so for the next few months, we'll be giving away a different O'Reilly Android book, asking for nothing but a minute of your time in return.

Developing Android Applications with Flex 4.5

This time around, we're giving away Rich Tretola's Developing Android Applications with Flex 4.5, which was published by O'Reilly just last month (May 2011).

It's no secret that benchmarks can easily be spoofed to show some pretty amazing results. Regardless of that, it has become an almost standard practice to demonstrate a device's power and prestige by using such tools. Over time, a few different apps have made a name for themselves and become clutch in the realm of benchmarking tools: Quandrant, Linpack, and SmartBench, just to name a few.

A new benchmarking tool has now been released by the same dev that brought us Chainfire3D called CF-Bench.

Update: Cory Trese's infringement notice was apparently sent to him by mistake - whatever that means. He received a call from Lodsys stating they'd like all the materials they sent returned. What's happened? Who knows, but as someone in our team chat room sarcastically stated - maybe they forgot a zero somewhere.

We received this tweet from Cory Trese yesterday, developer of a game called Star Traders 2, in regard to a settlement offer he received from Lodsys LLC (a patent troll shell corporation):
