The second annual Mobile Pwn2Own competition, run by HP TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative, is fast approaching. This year's event will take place at the PacSec Applied Security Conference in Tokyo from November 13-14, and over $300,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs. The Pwn2Own contest challenges security researchers to find and exploit vulnerabilities on mobile devices and rewards them by giving them the device they were able to compromise. Read More
It's pretty safe to assume that most people either have, or want, a tablet. For those who are in the market though, trying to find the perfect slate can be a daunting task. With all of the options, even the savviest consumers can easily get overwhelmed. Not to mention how much research is involved in making an educated purchase decision – I will personally sometimes spend weeks researching and comparing products before making a major purchase. It has only been a few months since Asus announced the original PadFone Infinity, but the new version of the phone-tablet hybrid was just outed in Taiwan. This is a spec bump on the last PadFone, which moves from Snapdragon 600 to 800, but that's not all.
Just like the last PadFone, this one has a 5-inch 1080p screen, which is upped to a 10-inch display at the same resolution when the phone is in the tablet dock. Read More
Google Wallet got off to a rough start. Carriers didn't want to support it for various reasons, it only worked on certain devices ... it was really just a big mess. As time passed, it didn't get much better, either. Today, however, Google is looking to change everything when it comes to Wallet. It's rolling out v2.0 of the app that brings a slew of new features, as well as making it available for basically all Android phones running Gingerbread (2.3) and higher. Read More
Trillian has been around for quite a long time. This isn't a hip teen's chat client - it's their father's. No seriously, many of the people who used this IM client back when it was fresh are old enough to have children now. Verizon may have just gotten the HTC One, but it's hard to call it a "new" phone. Other carriers have been selling the aluminum slab for a few months now. It's getting to the point where that on-contract price is downright reasonable. For example, right now the Verizon HTC One is $49.99 on both Amazon and Best Buy.
You can get this deal whether you're a new customer or you're upgrading an existing line. Read More
