Verizon may have gotten a head start, but did you know AT&T is building an LTE network too? It's true! In fact, today the mothership activated new networks in Raleigh, NC and Tampa, FL and surrounding areas including Sarasota and Manatee counties, and Durham, NC. So, if you've been living near, but not quite in these cities, this is your time.

AT&T still has a ways to go before they reach Verizon's level of network saturation, but new markets are always welcome.

Rumors are flying left and right on the internet this morning about a potentially new tablet called the Galaxy Note 10.1 accidentally outed by Samsung in an invitation to its 'Developer Day' at Mobile World Congress. The Note moniker clearly suggests one feature that Sammy itself has already hinted at: the S-Pen.

It was my initial reaction to write this off as a simple typo, but thanks to a bit of investigative work by The Verge, it appears that this device may indeed be legitimate.

Nah-Meen Studios LLC recently released their debut game Meowch to the Android Market, bringing dynamic, cat-throwing fun to users everywhere.

The game follows the story of three stray cats, who are trying to find their way from the tops of various buildings to the ground, while simultaneously evading the grip of crazy cat ladies and animal control vans. On the way down, players will face off against power lines, bouncy awnings, and satellite dishes while trying to grab "Missing Cat" posters in a familiar "collect three stars" level system.

Verizon's list of LTE upgrades is a short one this month. Big Red is expanding its 4G LTE network in four existing markets, and only adding one new market to the mix this go around:

  • Expansion in Little Rock, AR
  • Expansion in Rapid City, SD
  • Expansion in Clarksville, TN
  • Expansion in San Antonio, TX
  • Activating 4G LTE in Cookeville, TN

We normally see between 10 and 20 new markets on Verizon's monthly upgrade schedule, but with most major metropolitan areas already covered in blazing fast LTE, VZW appears to be slowing down before blanketing the rest of the country.

Back in October of '11, Motorola confirmed the first devices set to receive Android 4.0: the RAZR, Bionic, and the XOOM. While the Wi-Fi XOOM is the only of the mentioned devices to have already received the update, Moto just added a slew of other devices to that list, including:

  • RAZR MAXX
  • Droid 4
  • Photon 4G
  • Atrix 4G
  • Atrix 2
  • Electrify
  • XOOM Family Edition
  • XOOM 2
  • XOOM (3G)
  • Xyboard 8.2 (Wi-Fi and LTE)
  • Xyboard 10.1 (Wi-Fi and LTE)
  • Admiral
  • Droid 3
  • Droid X2
  • Milestone 3
  • Pro+
  • MT917 (China)
  • XT928 (China)
  • MT870 (China)
  • XT605 (China)
  • Motoluxe/XT615/XT685
  • XT822 (China)

While the bulk of those devices are still "in evaluation and planning" (which means that they could be deemed too "underpowered" for ICS and dropped from the upgrade path altogether), an approximate release schedule is available for some.

Shortly after CES ended, we heard word of a new phone from LG that would be the first to sport NVIDIA's impressive new quad-core CPU, the Tegra 3. Other specs were rumored to include a 4.7" 1280x720 display, 16GB on-board storage (plus a microSD slot), a 2000mAh battery (!), an 8MP camera in the rear, and a 1.2MP front-facer.

Now, the extremely reliable Paul O'Brien of Modaco has word from a source that those specs are correct - the sole exception is that the front-facing camera is 1.3MP (not 1.2).

Following the discovery of two security exploits within Google Wallet, the Vice President of Google Wallet and Payments, Osama Bedier, released a statement reassuring readers that Google takes "concrete actions" to protect its users. The statement further indicated that, in response to Wallet's security scare, Google has put prepaid card provisioning on hold, at least until a permanent fix is issued (which should happen "soon").

Update 2/14/12: Prepaid card provisioning has been restored:

Yesterday afternoon, we restored the ability to issue new prepaid cards to the Wallet.

CyanogenMod has been growing lately. The AOSP-based custom ROM reached one million unique installs last month, and dozens of devices are currently supported, including a wide array of LG devices. It's time to welcome a new member of that family: the T-Mobile LG myTouch.

If you've ever used an Android tablet, then you probably know that they could really use some true multitasking functionality. Currently, we don't really have an option to do multiple things at once, and when we do try, it becomes cumbersome and annoying. Well, we can always count on our good friends from the CyanogenMod team to answer our pleas and requests for features that we likely wouldn't ever see otherwise.

If you've ever lost a device or had one stolen, then you know what a gut-wrenching feeling that can be. All of your personal data, contacts, e-mail, social networking, photos, and more in the hands of a stranger or thief? The very thought of it is sickening.

If you want a better chance of retrieving your lost or stolen device, then you have to be proactive about the matter. One of the top apps on the Market for hunting your down missing device is, of course, SeekDroid.
