Android gamers, count your blessings: the fourth Humble Bundle has just added a handful of cheap, charity-beneficent games. The standard five games (Splice, Eufloria, Waking Mars, Crayola Physics Deluxe, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP) are still available, as is the bonus game for paying more than the average name-your-own price. But now, in addition to Machinarium, you'll get Avadon: The Black Fortress, Canabalt, Cogs, Swords & Soldiers HD, and Zen Bound 2 as well. Read More
When Chameleon Launcher first hit the scene with promises of a "new Android homescreen," people were excited. As we started to see more and more of this unique launcher, excitement continued to grow. Then we finally got our hands on it, and well - it wasn't what we hoped for. The dev team behind Chameleon have since worked hard to bring more widgets and features to the launcher, increasing not only its usefulness, but reasons you'd actually want to abandon the stock experience for something different. Facebook updated its Android app to version 1.9.12, adding a couple new features, like the ability to share news stories from your timeline and create photo albums directly from the mobile app. Photo tagging is improved, too, whatever that actually entails. The look of the Like / Comment / Share tabs below posts was also revamped, and it should be a little easier to tap on the respective action now.
Other than that, this is a very minor update (that crashed after about thirty seconds on my phone, yay!), as Facebook lurches ever-closer to its anticipated native Android app that is expected some time in the next few months. Read More
You thought the Nexus Chainsaw Massacre was bad? You don't know the half of it. Today, many users are receiving emails that the Nexus 4s they've ordered from the Play Store are backordered and won't ship out for another three weeks. For those counting, assuming the absolute worst and no additional delays, that will result in phones in brown boxes heading to your door by early December, so if you've got holiday plans for them, don't panic. The race for the most feature-rich and useful cloud storage tool is in full swing, with Dropbox, Drive, SkyDrive, and Box getting enhancements what seems like daily. If you're a fan of the latter service from that list, then a heaping helping of new features just got piled up on you plate. And it looks delicious.
For starters, you can now view documents inline, which is a huge benefit for those who use Box primarily for document storage and sharing. Read More
Anonymous leaker of all things phone, evleaks, took the lid off a press render of an upcoming HTC device, which evleaks calls the Deluxe (this is likely just the codename, not the official release branding). Deluxe is a word we've heard before, if it sounds familiar: Verizon's DROID DNA was widely reported as being named the "DROID DLX" before the DNA name started popping up, so that gives Deluxe yet more credence, minus the silly Verizon spelling (yuck). There may be a slew of file managers out there to choose from, but when it comes down to it, ASTRO is still my personal favorite. Maybe it's because I've been using since the OG Droid days. Maybe it's because of the continuous development. Or maybe because it just works. Regardless of the reason, there's no denying that it's easily one of the best choices when it comes to a file manager on Android. Read More
The DROID DNA is, without a doubt, the most exciting HTC phone to come to Verizon since the original Incredible. And I can already tell you that it doesn't disappoint - this is a serious effort from HTC, whose US handset sales have dropped sharply in the last year. It could be the phone that catapults them back into relevance.
After spending a short amount of time with it, I'm going to try and give you my first-blush reaction to this spec sheet titan. Read More
Minecraft - Pocket Edition may have one of the slowest development timelines around. Of course, the main reason we accept this almost Valve-ian wait is because every time we do get an update, it brings awesome stuff like friggin' Zombie Pigmen. Oh yeah, and the Nether Reactor that summons them, which is exclusive to the Pocket Edition. Heck yes.
The update also brings a few other new features, like paintings and mushroom farming. Read More
