Shadowgun Deadzone, the much-anticipated multiplayer add-on to the highly popular 3rd person shooter Shadowgun, has been teased by Madfinger Games on the company's Facebook page today. Take a look:

Tons of new character models (and weapons) are already the standout feature here. We actually heard about Deadzone back in January at CES, when Madfinger slated the game for a Q1 release. They initially discussed the idea of multiplayer in Shadowgun in October of 2011.

By now, you've probably at least heard about The Big Android BBQ. It's big, because it's in Texas. It's about Android, because we probably wouldn't post about it otherwise. There's BBQ, because who doesn't love BBQ?

What you may not know about the BBQ is that this is its third year as a thing. Like most other events, it gets better with age, and this year should be the best one yet.

Before we go any further, let me say that this post will contain zero references to replacement referees. Okay? Everybody got that? Good. Just after the long, long-awaited Jelly Bean update for Verizon's Galaxy Nexus, the carrier has finally updated its exclusive NFL Mobile app for Android 4.1. They've also added compatibility with "high-resolution devices", though looking through Verizon's current lineup it's hard to think what they could mean by that.

Earlier today, we received an email with the title "iPhone 5 PR Stunt Ends in Disaster Leaving 21 Homeless." You won't see any spoilers from me - just read:

September 26th, 2012, San Francisco, in a series of "stunts" to gain public attention for a new Apple iPhone 5 and iPad game launch, a startup went overboard causing massive property damage.

If downloading source code and picking through lines of code is something you enjoy doing, then today is a day of gifts: Samsung just released not one, but two different kernel source codes. I can almost feel your excitement.

First up, the GSIII. The international variant (i9300) was recently updated to Jelly Bean, and Samsung just made available the respective kernel source. So, if you've been waiting on that, it's ready for you.

If you're the owner of an Xperia Ion, you've probably been absolutely foaming at the mouth for an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. Today, AT&T announced that the update is available for everyone, just hit up Sony's website and download the Sony companion app for Windows or OS X. It does not appear this will roll out as a standard OTA update, so you'll have to download the app to get it.

You thought today's Google Play promotion was just about apps and games? You thought wrong. Google is going all-out, offering 25 music albums, 25 movies, 25 magazines, and 25 books you can all buy at deeply discounted prices right now (TV shows are not part of the promotion at this time).

The selection is actually pretty decent.

With Google's 25 billion downloads promotion now under way, you're probably wondering just which are getting price cuts. We have a list that we believe covers most of the major apps that are part the first day of the promotion (September 26th), below. Check 'em out - they're all just $0.25.

According to TmoNews, some T-Mobile HTC One S users are receiving an over-the-air update to their devices this morning, bringing a much-awaited bump to Android 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1.

2012-09-26_08-05-18

This update should be basically the same as the one that hit the international One S, One X and AT&T One X, which allows the remapping of the recent apps button. This is a hugely important change, because if the recent apps button is remapped to behave as a menu button, the legacy virtual menu button (that is big and ugly and takes up a bunch of screen space) goes away entirely.
