Yesterday, we announced Sentinel 3: Homeworld by Origin8 which hit the Android market as the third game in a very popular tower defense series, and the first installment to be available for Android. Normally I am not too excited about games of this genre, but I can honestly say that Sentinel 3 has impressed me both in terms of gameplay experience and sheer visual interest, thanks to the cleanly styled environments, visual effects, and smooth animation.
Squarespace, a popular web publishing company, has released a dedicated content management app for Android which brings blogging capabilities, stats, comment management, and your Squarespace settings to your Android phone or tablet. Squarespace for Android packs these features into a clean and stylish interface.
The app can also switch easily between multiple accounts and push notifications to your device to alert you of new comments. For Squarespace users who like to write their posts on the go, this app is a prayer answered, and best of all it's free.
When you stop and think about it, an app that could capture what is happening on your phone's screen in high quality mp4 format would be pretty useful. With such an app you could show off a neat new live wallpaper, make an easy to follow tutorial, or do a solid video review of an app - all without having to use a dedicated camera. Wouldn't it be sweet if such a thing existed?
Many a discussion has cropped up between AP writers about screen size. David's ideal screen size is about 3.7" - the same as what's on his Nexus One - although he could comfortably go up to 4". Artem, on the other hand, loves his 4.3" EVO and has no qualms with 4.5" screens.
Update 9/2/11: Aaand now with the latest 0.4.2.36 update, Honeycomb support is official.
A short while ago, the Google Voice app received an update that brought about a few bug fixes. Almost immediately we began hearing rumors that a Honeycomb interface may have been incorporated into this build. A quick search of the Market revealed that it's not officially supported just yet, so I pulled the apk from my phone and sideloaded it onto my Tab 10.1.
There have been rumblings lately regarding suspicious data collection happening with HTC's Evo 3D. For those not familiar, it was recently discovered that a service in the latest update for the Evo 3D collected usage, location, and device information, causing some concern among users and developers alike.
Xda reported today on a statement made by HTC officials which attempts to quell fears surrounding the data collection, letting users know that the data is encrypted and all identifying information is excluded.
TechCrunch's MG Siegler recently spent some hands-on time with the device that will simply be known as the 'Amazon Kindle,' and while he couldn't take any photos of it, he has painted a picture with words, describing, in great detail, what he saw and how he felt about the device.
This edition focuses only on new tablet apps or ones that added Honeycomb support. Regular apps and games are coming soon.
While HTC may have just made the 10.1-inch Jetstream official, it hasn't forgotten about the 7-inch Flyer; actually, it's quite the opposite. They seem to be hard at work on a Honeycomb update for the tiny powerhouse, as a full RUU is now available for download thanks to Paul O'Brien of MoDaCo.
This RUU is a very early build and those who are looking to flash it should proceed with extreme caution, as there isn't a lot of info available just yet on how stable it is, or whether you can easily rollback to the previous version.
Update: It looks like in order to fix one thing, you have to break something else. Reports are pouring in that this update breaks Wi-Fi and USB-tethering. Stay tuned for more details.
Owners of the Nexus S have been plagued by a notorious bug that activates Voice Search at random times, causing some serious interference when trying to accomplish even the most simple of tasks. Fortunately, El Goog has stepped up to the plate and addressed the issue, as an OTA update is currently rolling out that will put a stop to this annoying quirk.
