[CES 2013] LG's Press Conference: No New Phone, No New Tablet, No New Version Of Google TV; They Do Have A New GTV Launcher, Though

I went to LG's CES press conference, so I kind of feel obligated to write about it, even though nothing much happened. The biggest news out of the conference is that the translated "Google TV 3.0" press release we came across a few weeks ago is bogus. At the time we thought it meant a new version of GTV was coming, but it turns out it's just the same software that's been out since November, with a new launcher made by LG, which they referred to as their "3rd generation skin."

So what's new about the 3rd Gen skin?

[CES 2013] NVIDIA Shows Off Madfinger's Dead Trigger 2 For The Tegra 4, Complete With Godzombie [Update: Release Timeline And More Details]

NVIDIA slipped a surprise into their CES press conference this evening: a short and sweet look at Dead Trigger 2. As the only technical demo for the screaming Tegra 4 platform, it looked mighty impressive - based on the streaming video, the graphics look just a little behind the Xbox 360/Playstation 3 level. The short demo video showed live game video of the player wielding an M4 machine gun to dispatch an enormous building-sized zombie.

[CES 2013] AT&T Announces The Pantech Discover: 4.8" HD Screen, 12.6MP Camera, And ICS For Just $50, Available January 11

Pantech hasn't been going after the bigger manufacturers in the "superphone" category, at least outside of its home turf of South Korea. Until today, that is - at its CES press conference, AT&T announced the Pantech Discover, a flagship-class device that meets and in some cases beats the best that Samsung, HTC and Motorola have to offer. In addition to somewhat typical high-end specs like a 4.8-inch 720p screen, 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and 16GB of on-board memory, the Discover boasts a best-in-class camera (at least on paper) of 12.6 megapixels.

[CES 2013] LEGO Announces New Android-Compatible Mindstorms EV3 Kit For Programmable Robot-Building Nerdgasms

There aren't many things in this world that can be as purely amazing as LEGO. The only people who aren't fans of the world's best creativity toy are people who (mistakenly!) think the company has sold out and encourages kids to follow pre-made instructions instead of building something new. To that I say: Mindstorms EV3. With Android compatibility out of the box. Your argument is invalid.

2013-01-07_11h37_50

The main part of the new kit, the Intelligent Brick (seen above as a glowing torso with a QR code on its chest) will have more processing power, more memory, and more on-brick programming capabilities.

Welcome to Android Police's live coverage of the 2013 AT&T Developer Summit keynote. I know, a carrier keynote? Why? But you may be surprised to learn that AT&T used this event last year to announce six Android devices. Yeah, so this one might actually be kind of important. Definitely expect to see some new AT&T Android hardware (we aren't exactly expecting six devices, but hey, you never know), and follow along with the liveblog below.

It's the new year, and you know what that means: everyone is trying to lose weight. Nothing wrong with starting the year off trying to shed a few pounds – but the hard part is staying motivated. There are a flurry of apps that can aid in such a quest, but the real benefit comes when your workout data can be automatically synced with your smart device. [CES 2013] PowerA Announces A New, Bigger MOGA Pro Controller, For The Large-Handed Among You

Back when I reviewed the original MOGA controller, I had two problems with the controller. First off, the software was cumbersome (though I didn't cover using third-party drivers to use it with emulators or anything like that), and secondly, while it was a good size, it still felt just a little too small. Well, the MOGA Pro solves at least one of these problems by being bigger, better, and more button-y.
