Well, the day is here, boys and girls – Samsung's newest flagship is a go. As expected (and never doubted), it's called the Galaxy S4, and it picks up where the GSIII left off. Offering even more eye-tracking features, more horsepower under the hood, and a few tricks from the Note II's playbook, the GS4 is a worthy successor to the world's most popular Android phone. Let's get down to the nitty gritty. Read More
Not everyone's sold on Samsung's Android-powered camera experiment, but for those who are, you can grab one for a cool $30 off. The international 3G version of the Galaxy Camera is the latest gadget to get its time in the spotlight of eBay's Daily Deals promotion, going for $469.99, $30 off the price you'll pay in most stores and even more off of the Amazon price. Unlike most of the discounted 3G devices out there, this one doesn't require a contract (since the Galaxy Camera is sold without one anyway) but you'll need your own active SIM card to take advantage of that mobile connection. After announcing yesterday that Google Reader as a platform would be going the way of the dodo on July 1st, it appears Google has already started pulling the necessary plugs: the official Reader app has been removed from the Play Store. While you will still be able to see the Reader app on the Play Store if you've got it installed on one of your devices, open up an incognito window in Chrome, and you'll be directed to the generic 404 page when you attempt to load the URL. Update: It's official. Samsung Just Officially Unveiled 'The Next Big Thing' – Come Meet The Galaxy S4!
The next Galaxy's unveiling is finally upon us at 7PM Eastern/4PM Pacific tonight, March 14th. Come back to this page a few minutes early to watch the event stream live as well as follow our live blog. Don't forget to bring a snack - it'll likely go for well over an hour.
We may have already discovered some of the features and a possible look of the S IV, but there's always a chance that the leaks we've been seeing, which all came from the same dual-SIM device in China, aren't actually representative of the final hardware. Read More
Since there's no shortage of good, name-brand cases for the Nexus 7, it's generally not a bad idea to be wary of the cheapies. But after getting a heads up from Bob Severns (the guy who presses the buttons on our podcast), I decided to give a pair of $4 Nanum cases a go. Having never heard of "Nanum" before, I was skeptical of how good this extremely affordable duo would be. Read More
Update: Oops! Looks like Google classified this one as dead just a bit too early – it's back for a thirtieth go in the Play Store. If you want one, you should probably buy it now before they really do disappear forever.
Shortly after slimming down the Play Store's selection of Nexus 7 cases, it looks like Google has brought out the axe again, this time aiming it at the Nexus 4 Bumper. Read More
Glu Mobile isn't exactly my favorite developer - their in-app purchase / free to play business model ensures that - but there's no denying they've got a lot of talent going into their games. Heroes of Destiny is their latest title on Android - an action RPG of the generic-fantasy-world variety. The visuals aren't spectacular, but they'll by no means disappoint your average mobile gamer, and since this is a Glu game, you can expect near-endless content to trudge through in an attempt to extract precious currency from your bank account. At this point, most of us here at AP have retired the Amazon Appstore. If you still use Amazon's Android app distribution software, though (read: anyone who owns a Kind Fire/HD), then today's free app of the day – Osmos HD – is actually worth grabbing.
For those who may not be familiar with the title, it's a quirky physics-based puzzler where you control simple one-celled organisms (called "motes") and absorb smaller organisms. Read More
A physics-based puzzler centered on a... golfing mechanic? I know, I know. Sounds boring. But Super Stickman Golf has proven to be one of Noodlecake Studios' most successful titles to date, with over a million installs from the Play Store.
Super Stickman takes the traditional golfing mechanic and turns it on its head with crazy course designs, in-shot power-ups, multiple balls, and in-game achievements to keep you going back for more. Read More
