[Hands-On] DraStic Is The Android Nintendo DS Emulator You've Been Waiting For

Android emulator fans, meet you new best friend. Yesterday the DraStic Nintendo DS emulator was published to the Play Store, for the admittedly high price of $7.99. It's not the first DS emulator for Android, but it's far and away the best - the combination of smooth performance (on sufficient hardware) and a stupefying amount of options to adapt the DS ergonomics makes it an easy recommendation.

Most of the existing DS emulators are based on code for Windows programs, making them unbearably slow on Android.

'Top Men' Pull Through – Netflix Updated With 'Fixes' For Android 4.3

Last week, we heard from Dan Morrill (via Reddit) that "top men" were working on the "sleep of death" issue that caused 4.3 devices to become unresponsive if they fell asleep while streaming from Netflix through the Chromecast.

Tonight, though, it looks like the issue is already fixed with Netflix's update to version 2.4.1. We've been testing the update since it popped up earlier this evening, and haven't experienced a lockup yet.

PSA: Straight Talk Is Once Again (Kind Of) Selling AT&T-Compatible SIM Cards Online

Pre-paid smartphone users were in an uproar a few months ago when Straight Talk stopped selling AT&T SIM cards to new customers. At the time, all we were able to ascertain was that the cards were sold out online, but a few retailers like Walmart still had some in stock. Well, they're back – in a limited sort of way.

You could be forgiven if you don't - the local sharing app is a solution looking for a problem, and it's only for the new DROID phones. Like the previous Moto-exclusive apps, Droid Zap has popped into the Play Store long before the launch of the DROID Ultra, DROID MAXX, or DROID Mini.

Leadwerks Makes Its Kickstarter Goal, Promises 3D Game Development On Linux, Will Come With Support For Android And Ouya

In the greater history of computer gaming, Linux is a relative newcomer, still missing out on quite a few AAA titles and only recently gaining access to Steam. While the library of games is growing for the open-sourced OS, the actual development process is still locked in to Windows. Most of the tools used for designing 3D models (e.g. Blender), landscapes, and other graphics have made the transition to Linux, but the primary coding tools are mysteriously absent.

Hands-On With The LG G2 - A Benchmark Beast With A Few Tricks Up Its Sleeve

LG has finally unveiled the latest addition to its "G" series line of flagship phones: the LG G2. They are clearly aiming at Samsung with this device, but is it enough to stand up against every other flagship on the market?

As with all modern smartphones, the screen on the G2 dominates the front face. But LG has taken steps to make this even more prominent - bezel size has been minimized on all sides to make this phone nearly "all screen." Thanks to LG’s use of on-screen buttons, when the display is off, the front of the device looks incredibly sleek.

Samsung Releases Free Source Code For Very Expensive Galaxy NX Camera

Another Android device is on the way to release, and that means it's time for the kernel source to be posted online. Samsung has been so kind as to drop the code for two variants of the Galaxy NX camera on us – the standard international, and a version for South East Asia.

The Jelly Bean-based packages are a hefty 1.1GB for each device, and Samsung's servers are pretty sluggish. Any developers that want to dig around in the code from this bizarre product should get that download started now.

[New Game] HandyGames Releases 1941 Frozen Front – Turn-Based Strategy Set During The Winter Campaign Of WWII

I could be mistaken, but I think someone might have made a game set in World War 2 at some point. Still, it's best to judge a game on its individual merits, and HandyGames has a lot of experience making games. 1941 Frozen Front is a turn-based strategy game that follows the rough outline of the famous Winter Campaign during WWII. You can play as the Soviets, seeking to repel the German invasion, or as the Germans as they battle toward Moscow.
