Tip: Long-Press The App Drawer In Google Now Launcher To Immediately Search Installed Apps

One of our readers spotted this neat trick in the latest update to the Google Now Launcher (which is part of the primary Google app). A single tap on the app drawer icon will open the app drawer as usual, but a long-press will open it and immediately highlight the app search field. It will also automatically open your default virtual keyboard, quickly and easily allowing you to type and search for apps.

This is especially handy for those users who keep dozens (or hundreds) of apps on their phones. Check out the animation below to see it in action:

The long-press function is only available in the latest versions of the Google App.

Android's been around in the consumer market nearly a full 7 years now. That's actually quite a while when you really think about it, isn't it? Android may be young compared to, say, Windows, but going back to the way things were 7 years ago would be quite a shock. Android has come a long way since then.

So, we're curious: how many Android phones have you owned, in total?

Play Games v3.3 Prepares To Add Screen Recording And Live Streaming To YouTube Gaming [APK Teardown + Download]

After the launch of YouTube Gaming at the end of August, we posted a teardown of the new app that revealed plans to officially support screen recording and live streaming in the future. A recent announcement at the 2015 Tokyo Game Show Keynote (embedded below) confirmed Google's plans to enable Android devices to stream gaming footage to YouTube without the use of any additional software. The latest update to Play Games contains the evidence that Google is moving forward with this, and probably pretty soon.

Disclaimer: Teardowns are necessarily speculative and usually based on incomplete evidence. It's possible that the guesses made here are totally and completely wrong.

Some Google Play Store Users Are Seeing A New, More Compact Layout For App Review Scores

Google often experiments with small interface changes without mentioning them in blog posts or update notes, and that seems to be the case with the latest aesthetic change in the Play Store. Multiple Google+ users and Android Police readers have noticed a new and more compact display of the five-star rating system for app and game listings on the home page and in searches, replacing the full five-star graphic with a single icon and a numerical value. Observe the difference below, standard on the left, updated on the right:

Huawei's Nexus Phone Will Be The First Nexus Device To Offer Up To 128GB Of Storage

It took years (and years and years), but manufacturers are finally starting to loosen their grip on the idea that it's OK for flagship phones to come with just 16GB of storage. Last year's Nexus 6 came in 32GB and 64GB flavors, and high-end phones released this year tend to start at 32GB. According to multiple trusted Android Police sources, the Huawei Nexus phone that's been so prominently leaked in the last few weeks will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB variants.

That would make the Huawei Nexus the first Google developer device to be offered at such a high capacity.

AT&T Files Lawsuit Against Former Employees For Allegedly Giving Third Party Company The Ability To Carrier Unlock Phones

We like to (deservedly) give AT&T a lot of grief around here, but it looks like they have a case in their latest lawsuit. According to the legal documentation, AT&T has evidence of several employees having engaged in a scheme to illegally obtain unlock codes for AT&T customers that were still under contract. Why would they do that? Well, the lawsuit alleges they were taking money from Swift Unlocks, a web-based company that charges a small fee to unlock people's carrier smartphones.

The nearly-defunct two-year contract model that all carriers once used was built on the premise of making top smartphones more affordable up front.

[Deal Alert] Best Buy Offers The HTC Re Camera With A Free Bar Mount for $100 ($120 Off)

It's been almost a year since HTC announced its Re sports-focused camera, and there's no indication that the company intends to continue the product line with another entry. So maybe the smartphone maker isn't interested in going toe-to-toe with GoPro, but that means that you can get some great deals on a product that's less popular than its competitors. Today Best Buy is offering a bundle deal that includes both the camera and a bar mount (ideal for cyclists) for $99.99.

That's half off of the retail price of the camera with a $20 bonus for the mount, which brings the total discount to $120.
