Some Target Stores Are Selling The Nexus Player On Clearance For A Mere $25

Google launched the Nexus Player one year ago. It wasn't very good. Priced at $99, it was a hard sale. Now you can pick one up for half the price in big box stores like Best Buy.

Target was also offering the set-top box at that price, but now it appears to be moving units at even half that. Some folks are now finding Nexus Players at their local store priced at only $25.

[Heated Fight] After OnePlus' Jab At Samsung, Meizu Copies A Page From The Same Book And Offers To Swap A OnePlus 2 For A Free Meizu Pro 5

For a company that sells so few phones, OnePlus sure knows how to make the biggest noise with the smallest thing it does. Building on controversies propelled it to the top of many tech news cycles, but it seems that its marketing department has calmed down a little lately. The latest trick to come out of it is #TakeTheEdgeOff, a swap offer for Samsung owners. It sounds compellingly obnoxious, except that on the OnePlus scale of crazy, it's a moderately bland jab.

They're not asking you to destroy your phone, but to donate it to a charity. And not everyone can get involved, only 50 "winners" will be selected, though I'm not sure winner is the proper term when you're exchanging a Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 Edge+, or Note 5, for a OnePlus 2.

Sony's Xperia Z3 And Z3 Compact Marshmallow Concept Is Now Live For Testers, And You Can Try It Out For Yourself

Few Android OEMs take their updates as seriously and as extensively as Sony does, and Marshmallow is no exception. Ever since the source code for Android 6.0.0 was released by Google, the company revealed which devices in its portfolio will get it (hint: they go as far back as the Xperia Z2), released AOSP binaries for a slew of devices including its new Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact, and announced concept Marshmallow builds for the Z3 and Z3 Compact that are open for 10,000 testers. Now these builds are starting to roll to users who signed up for them and you have more opportunities to try them out if you own a compatible smartphone.

[Hands-On] Ultimate Ears Releases 'Block Party Mode' Update For The MEGABOOM, BOOM 2, And ROLL

Ultimate Ears makes some of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market today, but what's almost as notable is the company's consistent updates. The BOOM speakers are already some of the most feature-rich when combined with the app(s), and today they're getting even better with a new feature called "Block Party Mode."

Basically, this allows up to three devices to connect to the speaker at the same time and take turns playing music. Everything is controlled by the "host" (the person who started the Block Party), which allows them to play/pause music on any of the connected devices, as well as change the volume of the speaker and boot users who don't want to play nicely.

Palabre 2.0 Gets A Visual Overhaul And Adds More News Providers Like Twitter, Inoreader, The Old Reader, And An SDK For Developers

When Google Reader got shut down a few years ago, I was in disarray. My entire work system relied on having an easy one-stop site to check all the news and articles that have been recently published instead of having to visit each source to check it out. As alternatives started spanning out, I tested a couple until I settled on Inoreader because it embodied everything Google Reader was (fast, reliable, simple, handy with keyboard shortcuts) without the bells and whistles of magazine views and images that often hindered my workflow.

The problem remains however that, unlike Feedly, Inoreader doesn't have a huge choice of Android apps.

As if deciding which Nexus device to purchase wasn't hard enough, there are also several other killer Android flagships that are getting cheaper by the day, begging consideration. The model in question is the H815 variant, which works or most of AT&T's bands and should also be good for use on T-Mobile, if you are OK with not having access to band 12 (also remember that HSPA+ will only work in areas with 1900Mhz towers).
