Hands On With The Studio C, Blu's First Lollipop Phone - Available Today For $99

I've spent time with a lot of Blu handsets over the past couple of years, and one of the biggest downsides (to me, at least) is always the outdated software. In fact, every Blu phone I've looked at so far this year has been running KitKat. Fortunately, Lollipop is set to hit a few of the company's handsets starting this month, and it also just released the Studio C - its first offering to run Lollipop right out of the box.

The Studio C is a modest midranger with specs similar to some of Blu's other more recent devices (like the Studio Energy):

[Wake Me Up When September Ends] Spotify Adapts To Your Day And Runs, Adds Videos And Shows, But Only On iOS Now — Android Sometime Later

Here's an all too familiar story: major app or service gets new feature, releases it on iOS and says it's coming soon or later ... or sometime in the future we don't really know since we just started working on it and our one Android developer is a bit overwhelmed with everything we asked him to do just now and you should be patient because we really value our Android users, cross our heart and hope to die, and we want them to have the same experience as iOS users but it's hard to give you a solid timeline, so trust us that it's coming and we're trying really hard or as hard as we can to make it look like we are, but just leave us alone for a few months and maybe then ask us about it again?

[APK Teardown] Google Play Movies & TV v3.8 Prepares New Continuous Mode For Binge Watching TV Like A Pro

Google mixed things up a bit this week as all of the biggest app updates turned up on Monday, leaving mostly bug fixes and minor tweaks to roll out on Wednesday. We didn't get to see anything exciting from the likes of Keep, Gmail, or most of the other updates, but Play Movies & TV came packing at least one extra. True TV fans will be able to binge watch an uninterrupted stream of episodes from their favorite shows.

Initial Hands-On With Android Auto: It's Probably Better Than What You Have Now

It has been nearly a year since Google announced Android Auto, and it's still available almost nowhere. No car companies have built the technology into their 2015 vehicles (though some may get a software update with support later), and only a handful of aftermarket head units have the software. So what's the deal? Is it worth getting excited for? I've finally gotten my hands on one of Pioneer's Android Auto units (the 8100NEX), and here's how I'm feeling about it after a few days.

Smart Lock Now Notifies You When It Locks Your Phone After 4 Hours Of Inactivity

Google has been rolling out updates to Smart Lock over the past months, adding On-body detection and Trusted voice, and while this recent change doesn't bring other options to the table, it does make the feature more user-friendly.

Previously, if you had set your Android phone or tablet to trust a certain place, Bluetooth device, or any of your physical attributes, it would keep your phone unlocked when those variables were in effect, but you'd still come across a secure lock screen if you left your handset untouched for a period of time. We didn't have any explanation as to the duration of the lock trigger, but that's changing now.

Google Posts Android 5.1.1 Factory Images For Nexus 4, Nexus 5, And Cellular Nexus 7s

For many Nexus owners, the wait for Android 5.1.1 is finally over. Today, OTAs began rolling out for several Nexus devices which had thus far been stuck on Android 5.1. If waiting on an OTA update isn't your thing, you can now head on over to Google's Nexus developer page to get the latest factory images.

In order to flash these, you'll have to have some familiarity with unlocking bootloaders and using Google's Fastboot utility. Plenty of easy tutorials can be found with a simple Google search.

With these latest updates, the only Nexus that still doesn't have an official Android 5.1.1 update is the Nexus 6, but considering the latest push to AOSP was completely for that device, an official OTA likely isn't far off.

Today is a good day to be the proud owner of a T-Mobile Nexus 7 2013. Lollipop 5.1.1 is here with bug fixes and security enhancements in tow.
