The Rocketeer taught me three important lessons when I was a kid: Jennifer Connelly is smoking hot, Nazis are all evil, and the only thing cooler than a test pilot in pre-war Hollywood is a test pilot with a rocket pack stolen from Howard Hughes. Along those lines, Halfbrick's Jetpack Joyride made quite a splash on iOS, and now it's available on Android as a free game supported by in-app purchases.

Intrigue. Mysterious disappearances. Giant phones. These can all be used to describe the recent events surrounding T-Mobile's Galaxy Note. We're not entirely sure what's going on around Team Magenta's camp, but the Note is gone. Don't believe me? Go look. I'll wait.

Didn't find it, did you? Nope. But wait - the plot thickens. Wirefly also has the device listed as "not available," and Costco, which uses Wirefly on the backend, has the device on closeout.

We just received an invite from Amazon to a press conference in Los Angeles 2 weeks from now, and it's sounding like it could finally be time for the company to unveil some new iterations of its Kindle line. No details were provided as to the content of the event, but really, what else would it be?

We've heard rumblings for some time that the new Kindle Fire is on its way, and this seems like as good a time as any to announce it.

This morning, Google had a Wallet developer Q&A session on the Google Developers blog, featuring Robin Dua, the product manager for Wallet.

Dua hinted that person to person payments could be headed to Wallet soon, so be on the lookout for that. He also emphasized Wallet's focus on getting small businesses on board with the company's loyalty reward and offer platforms.

More interestingly, when asked in a viewer question why Wallet was only supported on a limited number of carriers, Dua responded that Google was in active negotiations with "a number" of carriers, and that he "hope[d] to have some new partnerships to announce soon." While clearly implying that there is a possibility of failure, the fact that Dua spoke to such negotiations at all is encouraging.

With the arrival of Google+ vanity URLs, we decided this would be a good time to share the AP love with those on the network who may not have added us to a circle yet. Speaking of custom URLs, we just snagged ours this morning; you can now find us at www.google.com/+AndroidPolice. Fancy, no?

Let's get the tough stuff out of the way up front. The T-Mobile Concord is manufactured by ZTE, runs Gingerbread, and packs a pretty meager 2MP camera. Don't worry, though. This phone shall not have been mortally wounded in vain. With a price of $99 off contract (with certain plans*) from T-Mobile or Wal-Mart, it doesn't look like too bad of a deal for smartphone users on a tight budget.

When it comes to speakers, cost can make a huge difference. Cheaper speakers tend to pack lower-grade materials, while more expensive ones tend to pack better. But every now and then, you'll find a true gem; a speaker that performs well above its price range. And luckily for me, the Satechi Swift is such a gem.

Portable Bluetooth speakers in particular are a dime a dozen, though the most well known is undoubtedly the Jawbone Jambox.

About a month ago, I reviewed a unique backpack called Solid Gray. It isn't a typical backpack by any standards - it's a unique hardshell pack made of a solid piece of extremely durable polypropylene plastic. Its eye-catching, futuristic design makes it one of a kind, and the overall layout is well thought-out given the nature of the bag.

Facebook's official app for Android got a nice update today, bringing with it just a few changes, though the enhancements it does bring do make the app just a tad more intuitive and functional.

The update includes a new event creation interface that allows users schedule events of all types in a snap, choosing locations, times, and privacy settings all from one screen. Also included is a "new upload flow" for sharing photos.
