Samsung hasn't made a big fuss about it yet, but the long-rumored Galaxy Note 3 Neo is now official. The device, which is a more modestly specced version of the Note 3, has popped up on Samsung's Polish site with all the pictures and data points you could ever want.

One of the most popular free apps on iOS has made the jump (or flight) over to Android, and now you are free to get addicted to it as well. Flappy Bird is a brutally simple game that has you maneuver a bird around some pipes. This is apparently entertaining.

You make the bird flap its wings with each tap, but it actually just bobs up and falls back down.

Best Buy wants to give you $50, but you're going to have to do something for Best Buy – just buy a phone. If you were planning to do that anyway, then it's a win-win. It's essentially the same deal Best Buy has been offering for the last few years. Just sign up for the promo, and then at any time in 2014 you can use the $50 credit toward a phone of your choice.

It's been a tumultuous ride with the red Nexus 5. At first it sounded unlikely with little more than rumors and suspect renders to go on, then multiple images appeared. The red Nexus 5 seems like a real thing now, but the date has been a mystery thus far. A tipster just provided us with a pic from Sprint's internal documentation informing employees that a red Nexus 5 will be hitting Google Play on February 4th.

Some companies have made a business out of selling high-quality Android slates at a good price by making the right compromises. Other companies, are Archos. The newest devices from the French tablet maker are the three Neon tablets, the 90 Neon, 97 Neon, and 101 Neon.

These three devices are all packed in the same general size range. The 90 Neon has a 9-inch 800x480 screen, which will probably look fairly awful.

That hotly anticipated Android 4.2.2 update for the AT&T HTC One was approved for distribution yesterday, but now it's reportedly hitting devices. Users on XDA report that a small 16MB update is showing up first, then sometime later, the big 537MB update to Android 4.2.2 appears.

Update: Google has announced that the deal is official on its investor relations site, and Motorola had its say too. The deal is worth $2.91 billion, with $1.41 billion paid at closing ($660m in cash and $750m in stock). Lenovo gets 2000 patents in the deal, plus a licensing arrangement with Google. Original post follows.

Google is always doing surprising things, but this is probably not something anyone would have predicted yesterday.

The Android Device Manager app could really save your bacon if you misplace a device, but it could also be a serious pain if someone else opens it. An update is rolling out right now that adds a password challenge when you open the app or switch accounts that makes sure no one but the account holder can track, lock, or wipe devices.
