ARM still dominates mobile devices more than two years after Intel started making chips suitable for Android phones and tablets. The company is taking another swing at it in 2014 with the newly announced Merrifield and Moorefield chips. Samsung is mere hours away from announcing the Galaxy S5 to complement those new Gear smart watches, but it seems a few devices are already floating around the show. The leaked images show off a phone that looks very much like the Galaxy S4 with some Note 3 influence.

Sony's SmartBand is a little more than a fitness tracker, but it's not a smart watch either. This device ties into the Sony Lifelog app to track your movement and connect the dots between your physical and digital activities. Interested? The SmartBand and Lifelog app are hitting the market in over 60 countries next month. That means only a few more weeks of using your dumb brain to remember things that happen to you.

File this under more is better – Qualcomm has just announced new ARM chips with more bits and more cores than ever before. The Snapdragon 610 and 615 are the chip maker's new 64-bit mobile processors, and the 615 packs eight CPU cores. Despite the big headlining features, these aren't intended to be flagship chips.

When a new Android device comes out, we spend a lot of time obsessing over which ARM chip it runs and how much RAM there is, but the storage speed often has a significant impact on performance too. Although, mobile flash storage controllers haven't been been improving at the same rate as other hardware. SanDisk hopes to fix that with the iNAND Extreme embedded storage platform, which offers three times the random write speed and twice the sequential read speed of current solutions.

SanDisk has announced a new step up in the mobile storage department. The company's new microSD card packs a whopping 128GB of space, and it can be yours for a mere 200 bucks. This is the first 128GB microSDXC card on the market, doubling the size of previously available cards.

Users of the Subsonic music streaming service are probably familiar with DSub, which was already highly praised. Well, it just learned a new tricks. Top billing for this update goes to Chromecast support, which lets you pipe online and local music your nearest HDMI port. That's not all DSub has in store, though.

T-Mobile has had WiFi calling for a number of years, but now Sprint is about to get into the game. Rumors began circulating early this year, and now we have the details on the launch, which is happening tomorrow. An OTA update (scheduled for 2/21 as well) for the Galaxy S4 Mini and Galaxy Mega will enable WiFi calling on those devices, but other phones will come later.

The Galaxy Note 3 has already been getting its fair share of KitKat, but now it's the Galaxy S4's turn. The Exynos 5 Octa version of the international Galaxy S4 is getting Android 4.4.2 via an OTA update. If you have a GT-i9500, don't go checking for updates just yet – this rollout is starting in Russia.

The guys behind Pushbullet always seem to be working on something new. This time it's a beta Windows app that you can take for a spin right now. This program is similar to the browser extension, but it includes some useful extra features.
