[New App] Regal Cinemas Gets An Official Android App – Find Theaters And Show Times, Order Tickets, And Much More

Regal Cinemas, the largest cinema circuit in the US, recently got its own official Android App. The app brings a ton of easy functionality to your Android-powered device, allowing users to look up individual movies, read plot synopses, watch trailers, and order tickets with a credit card or Regal Crown Club number. The app also helps users find theaters and show times, and includes a handy click-to-call feature, as well as the ability to get directions using Google Maps.

Besides all of that, Regal Cinemas includes a few "extra" features, like the ability to share show times via SMS or email, set up calendar reminders, utilize mobile ticketing, and share purchases on Facebook or Twitter.

Verizon's DROID Fighter And LG Cayman Release Dates Leaked

According to a new document acquired by Droid Life, the DROID Fighter and LG Cayman (which, according to DL, is the LG Lucid 4G) are slated for official releases starting later this month. The LG Cayman is poised to debut March 29th, while the DROID Fighter will be appearing April 12th. Interestingly, the release dates shown match exactly with the workshop dates we reported a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to the LG Cayman and DROID Fighter, the document lists a couple of new devices – the HTC Fireball (which Droid Life's sources are calling the Incredible 4G), and the Samsung Plato, which Droid Life last saw way back in August, listed for a January release.

Avira, a "worldwide leading supplier of self-developed security solutions," has thrown its hat into the Android security ring, releasing Avira Free Android Security to the Market today. The app offers a bevy of familiar anti-theft functions, including remote lock, scream, GPS tracking, and device info monitoring, among others.

Though Avira's solution offers the old standbys as far as anti-theft functionality, the app also has a few unique touches and key features that make it worth checking out.

First off, the service can handle multiple devices, which is a huge plus in my book. The app also allows users to add a convenient button to the lock screen which will call a predetermined phone number, allowing the person who finds your phone to get a hold of you quickly and easily.

Bringing a rocket-powered weasel and challenging puzzle action to the palm of your hand, Freeze Tag Games recently introduced Rocket Weasel to the Android Market.

The game follows the story of Mr. Weasel, leader of "Weasel's School for Hunting Chickens," who takes his students on a late night field trip to a hen house. In a wild twist of fate, the farmer traps Weasel's students in surprisingly sophisticated hanging cages, leaving Mr. Weasel to rescue them while also capturing up to three chickens per level. The game is your basic trajectory-based puzzler, requiring players to carefully calculate direction and magnitude to blast through each cage.

[Rumor] Sprint Adds Los Angeles To List Of Planned Network Vision/LTE Markets For 2012

Just a few days after allegedly adding its NYC market to the list of 2012 LTE rollout locations, Sprint has evidently begun planning to light up the Los Angeles Metro area by the end of 2012 as well.

Sprint's Los Angeles Metro market currently spans all of Los Angeles County, including Avalon and Santa Catalina. According to S4GRU, Orange County, North LA, Riverside/San Bernardino, San Diego, and Lower Central Valley are included in different markets, and are expected to deploy some time after Los Angeles.

S4GRU also notes that while converting the necessary sites to Network Vision standards will take over 8 months, individual sites will be activated on a monthly basis, meaning customers who purchase Sprint's first round of 4G LTE-enabled devices will still have a chance of enjoying enhanced data speeds.

Verizon Offering Droid RAZR, Galaxy Nexus, Samsung Stratosphere Free To Select Customers

Verizon customers will want to keep an eye on their inboxes today, as big red has begun sending emails to select customers offering a free upgrade to Samsung's Galaxy Nexus, Stratosphere, or Motorola's Droid RAZR with a new 2-year agreement.

The email is presumably being sent out to those customers who have a 3G-only plan, or who haven't made the jump to a smartphone yet, judging by the following snippet of text, though it's hard to be certain exactly who qualifies for the deal.

“There’s never been a better time to move to 4G LTE – Upgrade to your FREE 4G LTE smartphone today!”

The Next Web rightly notes that while the offer may seem bold for offering customers discounts between $99 and $299, it is likely that promoting 4G data plans will pull in enough cash to make the deal worthwhile.

LG "Heavily In Discussions" With Google To Manufacture A Nexus Device

Bringing a taste of truth to age-old rumblings of an LG Nexus device, the head of LG's Smartphone division, Ramchan Woo, has stated (in an interview with Cnet) that the manufacturer is "heavily in discussions" over a possible Nexus device, adding "we're working on it." While this quote is compelling, Cnet rightly highlights a few sticking points in the deal.

On one hand, while there is no evidence that Google will give Motorola preferential treatment following its acquisition, concerns have manifested, and partnering with any manufacturer (why not LG?) would quash any rumblings.

On the other hand, LG is decidedly pro-customization when it comes to Android's interface.

Building on the hype surrounding HTC's new line of Android-powered smartphones, the Taiwanese manufacturer has released a series of promotional videos, showcasing the HTC One series and each device's individual strengths.

For those who may have somehow missed the buzz thus far, HTC's One series is packing some pretty impressive hardware, from the One X with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, to the more budget-minded One V with its 1GHz processor and pocket-friendly 3.7" display.
