It seems that sneak peeks of the next Nexus device - and its firmware - have really been picking up steam in recent days. Just after we were treated to video of Ice Cream Sandwich running on a Nexus S, the folks at MyDroidWorld have released the so-called Nexus Prime's boot animation to the public, and it looks, well, awesome. I've taken the liberty of putting together a clip of the boot animation by itself for your viewing pleasure:

If you need a refresher on how to install a custom boot animation, check out our guide on the subject.

Looking to expand the selection of first person shooter games available for Android, Paladin Entertainment Co. Ltd. has brought us Gun Strike. The game may not fully reflect one's expectations of a typical FPS, however. Gun Strike features cutesy, stylized baddies, and the player stays stationary throughout most of the game, shooting at enemies as they run, roll, or pop into and across the environment, using a wide variety of weapons, from hand guns to assault rifles to grenades.

Making their first entry into the Android Market, the developers at Enfeel Inc. may have struck gold with Birzzle, a fast-paced puzzle game that offers familiar "match three," Bejeweled-style gameplay with a refreshing twist.

While the game ostensibly relies on the tried-and-true premise of matching objects in a grid formation, Birzzle offers something a bit new - the player can drag and drop birds to create groups, but can only grab hold of those birds who are not blocked by others.

The same developers who brought the kitsch hit Farm Frenzy to Android have recently released what they're calling their best game ever: Musaic Box - a game that successfully combines the hidden object and puzzle genres, and adds some truly unique twists that make for a dynamic, interesting experience.

At A Glance

The very first thing I noticed about Musaic Box was the stunning visual style. The environments are clearly polished, with an astonishing level of detail, and almost everything you'd expect to be interactive actually is.

It looks like Motorola has a Facebook feature phone up its sleeve - the Motorola EX225 is set to join ranks with the HTC Status as a socially-focused phone with a dedicated Facebook key. A device almost exactly like the EX225 - sans the Facebook integration - also made an appearance at the FCC, affectionately named EX226.

Tests confirm that both devices are headed for AT&T with 3G capability, though the EX226 only supports AT&T's 850MHz spectrum and lacks compatibility with 802.11n.

From developer DWP, DW Contacts & Phone & Dialer (hereafter referred to as DW Contacts) makes our fifth entry in the hunt for the best dialer, combining a slew of features into one versatile (if a little clumsy) interface.

At A Glance

The first thing I notice about most apps is their visual design. DW Contacts was no different in this regard, but that isn't necessarily a good thing. DW doesn't offer anything really new in the design department, except for the ability to change the colors, transparency, and font size of pretty much any element of the app.
