We've seen this lament on more than a few reviews: 16 gigabytes isn't enough storage for a mobile device anymore. Prolific hard drive vendor Seagate would like to offer an alternative to the sometimes stingy flash storage standard. Even 2.5-inch laptop drives are generally too big and power-hungry for tablets, but Seagate's new Ultra Mobile HDD crams up to 500GB of storage into a module just 5mm thin.

In addition to the thin design that could potentially fit in almost any tablet casing, the hard drive weighs only 3.3 ounces and uses as little as .14 watts of power.

Welcome to the latest entry in our Bonus Round series, wherein we tell you all about the new Android games of the day that we couldn't get to during our regular news rounds. Consider this a quick update for the dedicated gamers who can't wait for our bi-weekly roundups, and don't want to wade through a whole day's worth of news just to get their pixelated fix. Today we've got a high-end tower defense title, a throwback to old handheld LCD games, and a sickeningly cute puzzler.

Smartwatches are a young category. Superfluous at best and just plain dorky at worst, I've yet to see one that makes me say "wow, I've gotta have that." And if smartwatches have yet to receive their killer application, that's doubly true for the inevitable wave of cheap accessories that will try to cash in on the craze. Case in point: The Bem Wireless Speakerwatch.

This thing is a Bluetooth speakerphone strapped to a wristband.

The Professor Layton series has been lighting up the sales charts on the Nintendo DS and 3DS for six years, and now the spin-off of the addictive puzzle games is available on Android. Following an English debut on iOS three months ago (which isn't too terrible, all things considered) Layton Brothers Mystery Room is now available on the Google Play Store as a free download.

You play as Scotland Yard's Constable Lucy Baker, assistant to Alfendi Layton, son of Professor Layton.

As promised, Motorola is making at least some of the bootloaders on its new flagship Moto X unlockable, opening the door for relatively easy root privileges, custom recoveries, and aftermarket ROMs. The Sprint, US Cellular, and forthcoming Latin American models of the Moto X can now be unlocked using Motorola's My Moto Care portal. Customers will need to create an account and have their device ID ready.

Naturally, unlocking your device's bootloader will void your warranty, even if you never do anything else with it.

If you've already made the decision to give someone your money for the Galaxy Note 3, Verizon is more than happy to take it. You can now put down $299.99 to pre-order the Note 3 on a two-year contract, a whopping $699.99 for an unsubsidized phone, or reserve a no-money-down phone on Verizon's Edge upgrade plan.

Verizon will also be selling the Galaxy Gear smartwatch directly. You can reserve one along with your Galaxy Note 3 for $599.98 (the same price as a $300 Gear and an on-contract Note 3).

My dad uses a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, the same one he's had for two years. Whenever I call him his first response is invariably, "talk fast, my battery is dying!" It's become his catchphrase. He's counting the days till he's eligible for an upgrade to a DROID MAXX. Until then, he would probably be well-served by the Anker Astro E4, an external battery pack with a massive 13000mAh capacity. It's available on Amazon for a reasonable $44, but apply the coupon code ANKERE4B (black) or ANKERE4W (white) to get it for $38.99 plus free shipping.

Good grief AT&T, there's such a thing as restraint, you know? After launching the Galaxy Tab 3 7-inch and taking online orders for the LG G2 and preorders for the Galaxy Note 3 late last night, Ma Bell has one last device up its metaphorical sleeve: the carrier's first ASUS tablet. The ASUS MeMO Pad FHD LTE 10.0 is now available for order from AT&T's online store and through business channels with free shipping thrown in for good measure.

Google got more than a few raised eyebrows when a possible candidate for the next Nexus phone, bearing what was probably LG branding and a Nexus 7 2013-style horizontal logo, was leaked in the video for the Android 4.4 statue. Now some sleuths at S4GRU have connected a few dots and found that an FCC filing for the LG D820 looks an awful lot like that leaked device.

The FCC filing is focused on the phone's wireless specifications, since that's what the Commission has to certify.

It's football time in America, and you know what that means: a mad rush to get all the infrastructure updated in time for opening day. The official NFL Mobile app is getting its first major update since the publisher was switched back in August. A nice list of new features is included, most notably the addition of our neighbors to the north in Canada. Everyone in Canada should be able to access the app with its scores and news, but only Bell Mobile TV subscribers will be able to watch live games.
