The Fallout series has had a unique retro-futuristic aesthetic for nearly its entire run: it's a strange mix of post-apocalyptic settings sprinkled with themes of 50s and 60s Americana. Android customization enthusiast Turner Davis has applied this unique aesthetic to a massively-customized homescreen based on the game's PipBoy gadget, now on display at MyColorScreen. Best of all, he's detailed the steps needed to recreate this masterpiece.

For the uninitiated, the PipBoy is a wrist-mounted computer, sort of like a mix between an Apple II and Turanga Leela's ever-present watch thingy.

The LG G2 is barely out of the starting gate, but there have already been some impressive discounts on the flagship device. This weekend Amazon beats them all, at least if you're a prospective Verizon customer. Amazon Wireless is offering the G2 for a single penny if you sign a new contract or add a line to your account. If you're due for an upgrade, you can get it for $99.99 - not bad at all.

It ain't exactly Gone In 60 Seconds, but at least one thief is now sitting on a pile of electronics worth more than any sportscar. CNET reports that a truck stolen from a Gary, Indiana truck stop contained 22,500 LG G2 smartphones, originally intended for a Sprint distribution center in Kentucky. At the unsubsidized price, the combined value of all those phones is more than twelve million dollars.

At the moment there don't appear to be any leads in the case, though police in Indiana and Illinois are looking for the truck and the thief, and the FBI is aware of the situation.

That includes your Android phone and tablet: Sony has confirmed the official PlayStation App, which will launch along with the console.

If you thought that the Moto X was too expensive at $199 for an on-contract phone, you're in a vocal majority. After a couple of months on the market, Motorola would seem to agree. The Moto Maker customization site was updated with the banner below this morning, dropping the price for the customized AT&T model down to just $99.99 for the 16GB version. The AT&T-exclusive 32GB model is also cheaper at $149.99.

Google is a strange master when it comes to user interface design. Though their apps can generally be relied upon to use Holo standards at the very least, some development teams seem to let the latest trends pass them by for months or years (I'm looking at you, Voice). In any case, the official Google Fiber app has a much-needed update waiting for those lucky few who will get to use it.

We're getting into the stretch of the calendar that deal hunters spend all year preparing for: the pre-Christmas consumerism smorgasbord. It seems to be happening earlier and earlier, and Best Buy is getting in on the action even before Halloween.
