incredible

Back at the beginning of May, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE was made official, with Verizon's press release stating that the device would be available in the "coming weeks." Well, it's now July, and it looks like those "coming" eight weeks have finally reached their end - Big Red has at long last announced that the device will go on sale on July 5th, just as expected.

imgy

Just under a month ago, Minimax brought us Tagy, a cool little widget that would turn your app names into "tag clouds," where some would be bigger than others, based on your click frequency. Now, with Imgy, the developer has applied the same principle to app icons - have a look:

After you select the apps / bookmarks / contacts you want, Imgy will create a homescreen widget (you can decide how large said widget will be) with icons for the selected content.

Zoidberg on Google TV
Last Updated: July 2nd, 2012

Last night, I finally sold my Logitech Revue.

Why? Google's absolute silence on Google TV (GTV) during I/O keynotes represented, as I saw it, the last straw for the platform (at least in its current state). Of course, Google TV hasn't really seen much action since last fall, but after former Google CEO Eric Schmidt promised big, magical things for this summer, it seemed Mountain View might still have some GTV tricks up its sleeves.

one v

A few months back, HTC let slip that the lowest-end member of its One family, the One V, would hit "a variety of US partners" come summer. It looks like that rollout is already firing up, as Virgin Mobile USA today announced that it's now selling the prepaid handset for $199.99.

As with all other members of the One series, Virgin Mobile's One V will come with Beats audio and Sense 4 on top of ICS, for better or for worse.

big win baseball

We've seen no shortage of baseball games for Android, but that didn't stop Hothead Games - who's previously brought us such hits as Machinarium and Big Win Soccer - from releasing its own take on the mobile baseball craze.

The "game for everyone," as Hothead so loftily calls it, comes with a number of features meant to reel baseball fans in on a hook:

CREATE your own unique dream team, COMPETE against opponents from around the world, WATCH your team battle it out on the diamond, BOOST your player’s pitching, hitting, fielding and other skills and get ready to win the Daily Pennant for the ultimate BIG WIN!

swing shot

While not quite as famous among the Android gaming community as, say, Rovio or Square Enix, Com2uS has had its fair share of hits - most notably, the company has churned out such popular games as Homerun Battle 3D and Slice It. Now, the devs are back at it with something of an Angry Birds look-a-like: Swing Shot.

Rather than shooting birds at pigs, however, Swing Shot starts off with monkeys shooting stones at other monkeys, albeit ones that have been cursed by an evil witch (after, that is, you either create an account or log in as a guest - I just opted for the latter).

currents

Google Currents has always been a pretty impressive app - arguably the best Android news aggregator around town. Especially praised has been its beautiful UI; however, that didn't stop Google from looking at what it had and making it even better.

Indeed, the app just hit version 1.5.1, and the UI has been updated to "Android standards." Notably, the top navigation bar now features "auto hide" and "touch-to-show" controls, and it includes the library/trending toggle that was previously located elsewhere.

final fantasy 3

Final Fantasy III, whose previously old-school fanbase has become somewhat more mobile over the past few years, has made it to the final frontier of smartphone/tablet gaming at long last: the Play Store. The game is available now - but before you get too excited, take a good, hard look at that $16 price tag.

For those not familiar with the title, Square Enix's classic RPG sees four youngsters chosen by fate (OK, a crystal) to save the world from all sorts of evil wild beasts.

jb egg

Gingerbread had a creepy skeleton zombie painting, Honeycomb packed a "tron bee," ICS hid a Nyan Droid, and now Jelly Bean too has an Easter egg to call its own.

Indeed, the egg first presents itself as a smiling red jelly bean complete with antennae when the user repeatedly taps the Android software version in settings (this can be seen on the left). In the background is whichever picture you've chosen as your wallpaper.
