CyanogenMod's Team Hacksung Expresses Frustration With Exynos But Neither Confirms Nor Denies Plans For CM On Galaxy S4

The rumor mill is hot today after a comment on XDA caused some to worry that CyanogenMod would not arrive for the new Galaxy S4. XpLoDWilD took to the forums to respond to questions about the difficulty of developing for the handset. The comment appeared to be speaking on behalf of TeamHacksung (the sub-group within CM that deals with devices like the SII, Note, SIII, Note II, etc.), other CM members were quick to point out that no one person has the authority to speak for the entire team.

I am vaguely aware of the iPad. I know that my Galaxy has Google stuff in it and my nerdy friend tells me about his Next Us that is cool. I am the target audience for this new ad for the Nexus 10. Why? Because my friend who reads tech blogs already knows about it and doesn't need to be convinced. I do. And you know what? It's doing a pretty good job of convincing me.

Here is what I've learned watching this video: the Nexus 10 can be shared with my family, is used to post photos online, can read books, watch movies, coordinate calendars, have video chats, and has voice commands.

We generally have a rule at Android Police HQ: we don't post about Kickstarter/Indiegogo projects at least until they've been funded. Too often things turn into vaporware and people's money ends up wrapped up in things like Diaspora that never take off. Today, we're making a rare exception to talk about Minuum, because this video starts off as "Oh, that's kinda cool," and quickly shifts to "Holy crap, that's amazeballs!"

As you can see in the beginning of the video, the concept is fairly simple. It's yet another predictive text input algorithm that allows you to be less accurate when typing.

Google has finally added the feature that we've been wanting since Google first started adding functionality to notifications back in Ice Cream Sandwich: the ability to archive email directly from the notification shade. Now, when you get a new email, you can choose what to do with it immediately. This is extremely handy for the chronic email checkers who would like to be able to dismiss the clutter as it comes in, rather than let it pile up later

Have you ever wanted to scale a giant mountain? It's a really cool thing to do that challenges you to reach your peak physical condition, invest heavily in gear, and the payoff is joining a tiny percentage of the population that can say they've seen the world from one of its highest points. Or you could just go to Google Maps, now that the company has added images taken from the peaks of the Seven Summits, the highest mountains on each of the seven continents.

The company sent several of its engineers to scale some of the highest mountains in the world and bring back Street View (can we really even call it that at this point?) data that you can now explore.

Verizon Approves Droid 4 Jelly Bean (4.1) Update, Will Roll Out 'Soon'

Verizon has very surprisingly been killing it lately with Jelly Bean updates for various devices. Today, the Droid 4 is joining the pack with an imminent upgrade to Android 4.1. The rollout hasn't begun just yet, but support docs have shown up on the carriers website indicating that the update will be 'Coming Soon.'

Of course, the major benefits of Android 4.1 are obvious: access to Google Now (which can be updated directly from the Play Store after that), improved voice controls, expandable notifications, and voice transcription even when you don't have a data connection. Verizon has also improved connectivity with the mobile hotspot app and no longer includes Sling and MOG as preloaded applications, so you can remove those if you'd like.

Break Media Launches GameFront, Provides Video Walkthroughs On Your Android Device

When I was younger, video game tips came in one of two forms: a Nintendo hotline that you could call to get someone to walk you through the game, or you could find a written guide in one giant doc with some kind of ASCII art at the top. You kids today get all the nice stuff. Like video walkthroughs delivered directly to your phone or tablet via Break Media's new GameFront app.

The app is completely free and has access to tons of videos covering a variety of games for various platforms. The walkthroughs are curated, so it's not just a random assortment of links to YouTube clips.

Sony Announces Xperia L And SP To Round Out Its Mid-To-High End Lineup

Today, Sony announced two new handsets to add to its existing smartphone lineups, led by the new SP. This handset has a 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus, 4.6" 'HD Reality Display' and Android 4.1. It's not the most awe-inspiring spec list we've seen, but certainly good enough to stand next to other highish-end handsets.

The Sony Xperia Z Can Survive Being Boiled Alive In A Pot Of Soup (But You Probably Shouldn't Drop A Hammer On It)

6 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 large onion, diced
1 large carrot, diced
1 large celery stalk
1 cup penne noodles
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 Sony Xperia Z

Heat chicken broth in a large pot over medium-high heat. Check your Xperia Z for any new emails. In a separate pan, heat olive oil, add diced onions, cook about 4 minutes. Pull up your favorite music video on the Xperia Z. Add onions, oregano, basil to broth. Chop celery and carrots. Accidentally cut your finger. Look up first-aid for deep cut on Xperia Z.
