Begun, the camera shutter wars have. Ever since Samsung and Google debuted the Galaxy Nexus' zero shutter lag feature, handset makers have been cranking up their camera apps. Sony's Xperia S is a 12MP monster camera with a fast shutter, but the real speed demon here is the HTC One X. In the video below, the only area the One X loses is in not having a dedicated camera button. As a side note, manufacturers, why don't your phones with amazing cameras have dedicated camera buttons?

As you can see in the first tests, the Xperia S beats the HTC One X in the sleep mode test because it can wake directly to the camera app via the dedicated camera button.

It's only been a couple years since the EVO launched as not only the first WiMax phone, but the first "4G" phone (by carrier reckoning). Now, though, Sprint says that not only will there be no more WiMax phones, which we knew earlier, but no more WiMax devices at all. That means hotspots and tablets will also lack any WiMax antennae. Don't worry, though. Sprint has promised 15 LTE devices by year's end.

Sprint's LTE plans have been no secret, although not without a fair amount of bumps in the road.  Still, Sprint insists that its LTE plans are on schedule.

Thanks to some clever XDA members, the update is available for download now, if you don't feel like waiting. We've gone ahead and created a few mirrors for you here, or you can hit the source link for more info before downloading (which you should do anyway).

No, it's not a gangster game starring the birds from that one CGI movie. Gangster Rio: City Of Saints is Gameloft's latest addition to its collection of "games that are sort of similar to bigger game franchises you know, but aren't terrible ripoffs either." Gangstar's latest sandbox takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and offers the player all manner of weaponry and missions to satisfy their id.

For a mobile game, Gangstar Rio looks very fully-featured. From Gameloft, and after over four months of being teased, we'd expect nothing less. The game includes over 60 missions, a variety of weapons, vehicles, and something called "the Explosive Football." Side note, Gameloft: "Explosive Football" needs to be its own game.  Make this happen.

Summer movie season is starting. With the Hunger Games already breaking box office records and nerds everywhere polishing their shields and repulsorlift glove replicas in anticipation of The Avengers, this year is set to be a big one. AMC has appropriately launched their official app to help you keep track of all the movies you're geeking out to see this year.

The app does a lot of the same things that more general movie apps like IMDb and Flixster already do well, like finding movie listings and trailers. The AMC app, however, also allows users to keep track of their Stubs account and rewards.

Android has had some powerful to-do lists dating all the way back to Cupcake, but few are quite as nice-looking as 2Do, a recent entry (although Astrid's new design might be a solid contender). The $7 to-do list (yes, you read that right) does it's best to make itself worth the money. Tabbed calendars, the ability to attach photos, starred tasks, and a selection of themes make it one of the nicer to-do lists we've used. It even has support for the Galaxy Note's S Pen.

The app strikes a nice balance between its obvious iOS-heritage and implementing ICS style guidelines.

Ok, so maybe the "these aren't the Droids you're looking for" joke is a little 2009, but that doesn't make this Android being carried off by Jawas any less adorable. If you're looking for a sweet deal on a shirt, but missed out on last week's Tanga deal, you can grab this shirt from TeeFury right now. The $10 price tag only lasts for another eight hours, so get a move on.

In related news, Google is rumored to include support for the binary language of moisture vaporators in the next version of Android. Currently, it only supports binary load-lifters, which are similar to moisture-vaporators in most respects.

You might not have heard about Card Case. It's not the most popular of Square's innovative services, but it's worth just as much attention for the average consumer. Now that it's getting a facelift, it's a good time to revisit the concept. Pay With Square (as it's now known) is an app that allows you to create and maintain tabs at local businesses by simply giving the retailer your name.

To answer your first question, no there's not a lot of places that support this payment method just yet. However, the app does have a built-in directory of the places that do support it, which is handy for new payment methods.

If you were on the fence about whether to pick up the Humble Bundle For Android 2, this should help sway you one way or the other: the bundle creators have added a new game, Snuggle Truck, to the mix. This game puts you in the driver's seat of a truck filled with poorly-secured stuffed animals. The objective is to take what is apparently the least safe route possible to deliver these stuffed animals to their destination without losing too many.

If you already bought the Humble Bundle then congratulations! You can go download your free game now. If you haven't, then this game will be just another part of the package you can download.
