Report: Microsoft Office Mobile Is Coming To Android In Early 2013, Plus A Screenshot Or Three

It seems the rumors can't stop flowing out of Redmond. Last month, a representative from a Microsoft subsidiary in Czech Republic claimed that Office would be coming to Android in 2013. While the company distanced itself from those remarks pretty quickly, that may simply be a smokescreen to cover leaks, like the kind the Verge picked up, including a few screenshots of Office running on iOS, and information on the release for our little green buddy.

We don't have much information to go on so far. According to the Verge's sources, the app suite will become available in May 2013. They will offer the ability to view documents as well as basic editing capabilities, though allegedly it won't do much to replace a full version of Office.

Motorola Photon Q Update Rolls Out - No, It's Not Jelly Bean

Who doesn't love a good software update? Today, Sprint is beginning to rollout a minor upgrade to the Photon Q that brings a few incremental improvements. Sorry, there are no Jelly Beans to be seen, but there are still some things to be excited about. Here are a few of the key features of the newest build:

Enhancements/Fixes

  • Improved text messaging when requesting usage and upgradeability through Sprint Zone
  • Select number of users to access Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Random power cycle when using Wi-Fi Direct
  • Manually send or auto-sync emails from outbox
  • seamless international text messaging
  • Faster launch and playback using the YouTube application
  • Improved browsing with Google Chrome for Android Mobile Browser
  • Improved MMS functionality

All in all, it's not a huge update by any means, but users of the device should still appreciate the tweaks.

Hi, Android! Sorry your present is a little late, it took a while to wrap it. Five years ago yesterday, Google's then-CEO Eric Schmidt joined other members of the newly-formed Open Handset Alliance to announce the Android operating system. Back then, we were still nearly a year away from an actual Gphone (and yes, people really called it that) and Sprint and T-Mobile were the only US carriers even interested. Now, Android is installed on over 400 million devices, nearly every carrier in the world wants a piece of the action, and the platform as a whole is the single largest mobile OS ever.

Final Angry Birds Star Wars Trailer Is Released, Shows Off More Lasers, Wookiees, And No, Nothing About Episode VII

Yes, we know, Disney bought Lucasfilm. No, there aren't going to be any spoilers about the plot, director, amount of direct involvement from George Lucas, or any other details about the upcoming Episode VII movie, no matter how much you (meaning me) want there to be so you (again, me) can stop worrying. What we do have is birds with force powers, giant flying fuzzballs, and, allegedly, the droids you're looking for.

Now that we can see a bit more of the gameplay, it looks like this is going to share some similarities both with the basic, land-locked Angry Birds game, as well as Angry Birds Space.

[New Game] Super Falling Fred Brings More Speed, Traps, And Blood Than The Original Game

Man, this guy just can't catch a break, can he? As if there wasn't enough blood shed from our favorite death-defying ginger in the original Falling Fred and Running Fred after that, he's back for a third round in Super Falling Fred. Like the first, your goal is to make it from the top of a rather large shaft to the bottom without getting sliced by lasers, smashed by chomping doors, or impaled by giant spikey rollers.

The new version includes new traps, upgradable skills, and brand new avatars. If you feel like the red-headed victim has had enough, you can take out your frustrations with a sparkly vampire, an androgynous pop-star, a guy that doesn't seem to think that Cleveland rocks all that much, or Cameron*.

Let this be a lesson to you all: if a judge orders you to issue a statement saying X, it might not be a good idea to say "Well, that guy said X, but everyone else in the world thinks he's an idiot, so it doesn't really matter." That's roughly what Apple did when it posted this court-ordered concession on its website. When the UK judge came back and said, "Um, no, try that again," the Cupertino company was forced to issue a new version, sans snark. Here it is in full:

[New Game] League Of Heroes Is Kid-Friendly Adventure Game With Quests, Baddies, And Weather Effects

From the gameplay trailer, League of Heroes might almost look like Baby's First Diablo. In the village of Frognest, you star as a hero of the story, hacking and slashing through a variety of magical bad guys to save your town. The graphics are beautifully stylized in a 2D cartoon aesthetic. The game is free to play and includes over 60 quests.

If you've ever played an adventure game á la Legend of Zelda, you should feel right at home. In addition to the standard swordplay, you can also collect coins and unlock new equipment to both level up and gear up.

Evleaks Shows Off Press Shot Of HTC Droid DNA, Promises Early December Availability

Ever since the HTC J Butterfly was announced for Japan we've been wondering when that glorious 1080p display would be coming to US soil. We've seen leaks that indicate that the internals would be released here in a much more One X-looking case, and we're sure by this point that it will be called the Droid DNA. Now, everyone's favorite Twitter leakster (tweakster?) evleaks has dropped a press shot on us with the familiar name and promising an "early December" availability.

The name lines up with what we've heard previously, and the device certainly looks an awful lot like the J Butterfly, as well as the previous blurrycam photos.

Sony Xperia TL And LG Optimus G Are Now Available From AT&T For $99 And $199 Respectively

It's a big day for AT&T devices! For starters, the headlining LG phone that's managed to grab our attention as the best not-a-Nexus device the company has put out in recent memory. The LG Optimus G goes on sale today on the nation's #2 carrier for $199 with a two-year contract. Of course, for $100 more you can pick up a Nexus 4 from the Play Store, though you'll lack LTE. It really depends on how much you value stock Android over an extra 4G radio. Conundrum, eh?
