The ability to locate your expensive bundle of joy, when lost or worse, stolen, is priceless. And arguably more so, is the capability to prevent whoever is using it from accessing your personal data and photos while placing premium rate phone calls to xxx numbers in Eastern Europe.

It's peace of mind that even if your phone is truly gone for good, then the biggest expense you'll incur will be a new handset, and hell, the insurance that you are paying through the nose for, should cover that.

This is why apps such as Lookout Mobile Security, Theft Aware, and WatchDroid Pro exist.

Ever reminisce about those heady, hazy days of the mid-90s when you and your mates would gather around a Nintendo N64 console for a communal session of Mario Kart, Golden Eye, or Starfox?

Well those days are back… if you can get ahold of a Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, dubbed the PlayStation phone, and equip it with N64oid (which was recently taken down from the Market, but you can always find links floating around).

OK. So, the emulator does not yet support network multiplayer games, and the the four-player mayhem for which the N64 was famed is missing, but the sheer retro joy of N64 gaming is unsurpassed -  if you don’t mind playing on a 4” screen rather than your 50” plasma.

After months without either official comment or update, the author of homescreen replacement app LauncherPro has finally sprung version 0.8.4 into the Android Market.

One of the smoother and more popular homescreen apps, LauncherPro offers seven screens and up to three scrollable docks, as well as Sense style full-screen widgets for paid “Plus” users, which include messaging, Facebook feeds, bookmarks, and calendars.

Part-time developer Federico Carnales announced in September that a complete rewrite was in the works, which would not be based on the stock Android 2.0 launcher. Users have been waiting with bated breath ever since, with commenters growing incrementally more anxious on the official website since the last update in January.
