Who wants some free apps? You do? Cool. Read on.

I'm sure you've all heard of PowerAmp before. But for those who haven't, it's probably the most powerful, versatile, and customizable music player in the Play Store. And that's saying something, because there is no shortage of music players on there. So, what's so cool about it? The fact that it can do basically everything you could possibly want from a media player.

We've looked at a wide variety of accessories over the past couple of years: cases, cradles, headphones, speakers, etc., but I'm not quite sure we've ever seen a product like Une Bobine. In a nutshell, it's a microUSB cable. But it's not your average USB cable - it's an adjustable, bendable, flexible USB cable that can be used to hold your phone – a dock and cable in one, if you will.

Ever since Samsung released the Note II with awesome new features like Multi-Window and Air View, owners of the original Note have been wondering if they would ever see these enhancements. Considering the Galaxy S III started receiving its Premium Suite update about a week ago, we all assumed that the Note would be next. Samsung has now confirmed that with a new microsite highlighting all of the features of the Jelly Bean Premium Suite for the phablet that started it all.

Hot on the heels of the Jelly Bean update for the Excite 7.7, Toshiba is also pushing the OTA to its larger brother, the Excite 10. Reports are scattered and details are pretty scant at the moment, but we have confirmed that it's rolling out now.

It appears that the OTA – which brings Android 4.1.1 – is being pushed in stages to both the AT300 and AT305. You can see if it's available on your device by heading into Settings > About Tablet > System Updates or by jumping directly into Toshiba's Service Station.

Given Toshiba's track record with Android updates, I thought I'd never get to write this post. Alas, here it is – Android 4.1.1 is officially rolling out to the Excite 7.7. At first blush, it looks like Toshiba did a good job on this one. It actually uses the new "hybrid UI" (like on the Nexus 7), which leads to a much better experience on smaller slates like the 7.7.

The update clocks in at a cool 348MB, so be prepared to wait for just a bit to grab this Jelly Bean goodness.

While text messaging may be one of the easiest ways to get messages across the wire, having lengthy conversations with only a tiny keyboard to type your messages can be tedious and annoying. As a result, apps like TabletSMS, DeskSMS, and MightyText were born. The latter has always made it easy to send SMS from your PC, but thanks to a new app in the MightyText family, you can now do the same directly from your tablet.

One thing that's always bothered me about making nandroid backups is having to keep them stored on my phone – and with the limited storage of the Nexus 4, this rings even more true. Thus, it's not uncommon for me to end up transferring backups to my PC in case I should need them again. Thanks to a new feature implemented into ROM Manager 5.5.0.8, that process just got a lot easier.

Every time I pick up my Nexus 7, I think to myself "you know, if this were 0.9 inches smaller, I'd definitely use it as a phone." Because there's no possible way I'd look even remotely silly holding something that large up to my head, right?

OK, that may be true about me personally, but it seems someone at Huawei had a similar train of thought, as the company is set to unveil a monstrous 6.1" 1080p phone known as the Ascend Mate at CES.

Everyone's favorite mind-reading keyboard, SwiftKey, just received an update that brings a handful of new languages (Armenian, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Hindi, Hinglish, Irish, Macedonian, Latin American Spanish, and Tagalog), as well as improved language pack downloads, improved key layouts for some keyboards, general bug fixes, and a split keyboard layout for "normal-sized" devices. Horray for making things better!

As if that's not enough, though – the keyboard is also on sale for the holidays.

Earlier this month, Samsung started pushing Android 4.1.2 to its test bed in Poland. It seems that all must've gone well during the short, two-week trial, as it has now started pushing the update to a variety of different locales, including the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Colombia, Romania, and more.

Not only does the update bring 4.1.2 and all its goodies, but also Samsung's Premium Suite, which features a number of useful enhancements, like Multi-Window, page buddy, an improved Gallery app, customizable notification panel, smart rotation, the paper artist app, and more.
