It's been a while since we've seen a new set of those little Android figurines that everyone loves. After a long wait, however, Series 3 will be available at 8AM PT today. This collection, of course, brings all new faces to our beloved mascot, and the Dead Zebra guys have really gone above and beyond this go around, as some of the designs are incredibly intricate. The Redbox movie and video game rental kiosks that seem to be at every McDonald's, Walgreens, Walmart, and umpteen other locations across the country are easily one of the most convenient ways to get your entertainment fix. Anyone who reads this blog often knows my disdain for touch-controls on mobile games. Today's the day, Galaxy Nexus owners - Verizon just updated its support documents to reflect the long-awaited Jelly Bean update. From what we're hearing, the OTA is already rolling out, so you should be able to pull it down right now. You'll just need to jump on Wi-Fi and head into Settings > About phone > System update.
Three of the biggest TV-streaming apps in the Play Store - Hulu Plus, MAX GO, and HBO GO - were all updated within the past couple of days with eerily similar changelogs that include one key feature: support for closed captions. Past that, both HBO GO and MAX GO received "performance enhancements and bug fixes." Hulu, on the other hand also got support for "social sharing of videos and shows."

Looks like ASUS is gearing up to announce the second iteration of its Turducken phone, the Padfone. Back at the end of May, a gaming accessory company called PowerA announced a new Bluetooth gaming controller for Android phones called the MOGA. MetroPCS just announced a new 4G smartphone from ZTE for its ever-expanding 4G LTE network. Dubbed the Anthem, this new handset offers mid-range specs under a 4.3" 480x800 display, including a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and Android 2.3. Past that, the pay-as-you-go carrier was overly-scant on details, but we'll assume it's packing 1GB of RAM and some sort of camera (5MP, maybe?).
Many users - myself, Artem, and several other AP team members included - got an error just a bit ago stating that "There is a problem communicating with Google servers," but this issue seems to only be affecting Jelly Bean devices. Makes perfect sense, too - looks like Google Now is the only thing currently down, as Talk, Drive, GMail, Calendar, Movies, Music, Magazines, Books, Maps, the Play Store, and pretty much all other Google Services are currently fully functional.

Well, that was fast. The Note II was just announced for the five biggest US carriers this morning - Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular - and the latter already has its pre-order page ready to go.
Back in May, Liam spent some hands-on time testing out a then-new app called CallApp. Dubbed as a sort of supercharged caller ID, CallApp gives detailed info about who's calling you (or who you're calling), by pulling information from various social networks and the web.
Sprint just began pushing an OTA to its variant of the Galaxy S III that brings a few bug fixes and enhancements, as well as the inclusion of the SWYPE keyboard.
