About Cameron Summerson

Cameron is a self-made geek, Android enthusiast, horror movie fanatic, musician, and cyclist. When he's not pounding keys here at AP, you can find him spending time with his wife and kids, plucking away on the 6-string, spinning on the streets, or watching The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on repeat.

If you like The Washington Post and happen to have a GoogleTV, your day just got better: there's now an official WP app designed specifically for GTV. Dubbed PostTV, this app brings everything you love about The Washington Post to the big screen. It also includes an exclusive news program called The Fold, which is designed to provide bite-size news snippets directly from the WP newsroom.

The name "League of Evil" doesn't really spark thoughts of cute little pixelated characters, does it? It didn't for me, anyway. After watching the iOS trailer for the game, though, three things came to mind almost immediately: MegaMan, Contra, and pixels. At that point, I was sold.

You know who loves giving stuff away as much as we do? Handy Apps. They're always down with offering up some cool gear to hand out, and today, we have a couple of 16GB Nexus 7s for two lucky readers. One of them could be you!

I imagine there was a meeting at TomTom some months ago where it was decided, for whatever reason, that there was a need for them to bring their own maps and navigation apps to Android. Now, after who knows how long, those apps have come to fruition. Only they're quite expensive ($38-$60), and not compatible with, well, any modern device. Not the HTC One X, Galaxy Note, Galaxy S III, or Galaxy Nexus. And no tablets. Or many other relevant devices.

In Apple's mind, here's how it was all supposed to play out: Samsung loses in court, and customers see a bad-nasty-bad company that steals ideas. Who wants a cheap knock-off, anyway?

Hot on the heels of AT&T and Sprint announcing their respective variants of the powerhouse Optimus G, the @EVLeaks Twitter account has posted an image of the Optimus L9 with T-Mobile branding.

Beautiful accounting software. There are three words in the realm of things I thought I'd never combine into one sentence, yet here I am. This is the exact claim made by Xero, the creator of - you guessed it - accounting software of the same name. As far as this type of application is concerned, though, I have to say I agree - it is pretty.

You know what I hate about the Nexus 7? Nothing. But I dislike the limited amount of storage - 16GB just isn't enough, especially considering the size of games like Horn and The Bard's Tale. What I'd really like to see is a 32GB version of the device, and according to a leaked Carphone Warehouse screenshot that showed up over at Droid Life, that dream may actually come to fruition.

Late last week, ASUS began pushing Jelly Bean to the Transformer Prime, and it followed up by doing the same for the Infinity this week. That's great for users running stock systems with locked bootloaders, but if you don't fall into that camp, then you get no OTA love from ASUS. Now, though, they have made available the full stock ROMs for both tablets.

Yesterday, we highlighted the hidden "labs" feature in Nova Launcher. Turns out that's not the only of TeslaCoil's apps with a secret menu - popular lockscreen replacement app WidgetLocker has a similar feature, except it's called "experimental." For all intents and purposes, though, it's the same thing.

Well, the long-awaited (and rumored) HTC One X+ is official. HTC took the wraps off this not-so-secret handset earlier this morning, stating that it would be available in several different regions. Now, AT&T has announced that it will be the exclusive carrier of the device here in the US, and it will hit stores "in the coming months."

This year's Droidcon is all set up and ready to go on November 22nd and 23rd in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, so all you Android devs across the pond may want to mark your calendar. Expect to your brain to be filled with pertinent information from the likes of Google, Facebook, and Paypal, among many others. In fact, if you'd be interested in joining those ranks, Droidcon is still accepting papers for potential speakers.

Google is always finding ways to improve and enhance its services. Sometimes the updates are fairly major, while others a minor bump is enough to make a notable difference. The latter's the case with a new feature now available in GMail on the desktop, mobile site, and mobile app: the search function can now return results that include text inside of attachments.

The Atrix HD is probably the best Motorola smartphone on AT&T right now. If you happen to fancy Moto's hardware and are in the market for a new phone on Big Blue, you're in luck: it's now basically free from Amazon Wireless for new contract and upgrading customers.

Looks like the Red Cross is on a roll. In just a few months, it has released what's becoming a series of not only impressive looking, but completely utile applications. First, they showed us how to perform simple CPR. Then, it was all about hurricane preparation. Now, the third app in the trio has been released, and this time it's dedicated to earthquakes.

Since Nova Prime made its way into the final day of Google's 25 Billion promo, we thought this might be a good time to share a lesser known feature of the custom launcher. Much like many Google apps/services, Nova has a "labs" menu that makes available some useful tweaks which aren't quite ready for prime time (get it?).

AT&T just announced the James Bond phone, otherwise known as the Sony Xperia TL, will be the newest edition to its 4G LTE lineup. First announced back at IFA, the Xperia TL is Sony's newest offering to the high-end world:

Last week, ASUS promised Jelly Bean to TF201 and TF700 owners, and while the former got its update right on time, there was an issue that prevented the update from being pushed to the latter. As a result, ASUS said the update would be available "early next week." Here we are, about as early as it can possibly get in the new week, and the OTA has already begun rolling out.

Update: The new updater should be available in the latest nightlies (rolling out tonight). Once you flash, head into Settings > About to set your update preferences! via arcee

Hey Note owners - ready for CyanogenMod 10 on your device? Good, because the first nightly builds for both the 3G and Wi-Fi versions hit get.cm just a bit ago. Both are labeled as "experimental," so if you're looking for something super-stable, this isn't the ROM for you. If, however, you like to live on the edge and/or have been waiting for some CyanogenMod action, head to the appropriate link below and give it a flash.
