Nexus 4 Bumpers Are Back In Stock On The U.S. Play Store - Grab One Before They're Gone Again

When the Nexus 4 was officially launched, it sold out quickly. A couple weeks later, Google re-opened the orders for another go. It went a little bit smoother the second time, but users were left waiting anywhere between two to eight weeks to get their glorious N4s. During all of this, though, the official bumper cases were sold out basically the entire time. Some users were able to grab one during the initial order process, but that's the extent of it - they've been out of stock ever since.

They're finally back now (on the U.S. Play Store, anyway. Something tells me they'll be gone again shortly, so you better hurry and jump on it if you plan on picking one up.

Yahoo! Mail Updated To v2, Brings New UI, Increased Stability, Improved Security, And Some Other Stuff

Still using Yahoo! Mail, eh? Good news! The app just hit v2, which, like most full-version releases, brings all sorts of new goodies. First, and probably the most noticeable, is that the app is now called Y! Mail and it has a brand spankin' new UI. Don't tell GMail I said this, but I actually think Y! Mail's new look is pretty decent.

Aside from the pretty new interface, version 2 also brings increased stability, more reliable push notifications, better battery performance, and better security, as it now has SSL activated by default.

Good stuff for those who are still attached to Yahoo!

Android 4.1.2 Now Rolling Out To The Galaxy Note II (GT-7100) And Note II LTE (GT-7105), Brings A Slew Of New Features

I have to say, Samsung is on a roll with the updates lately. First, they started pushing 4.1.2 to the international variant of the GSIII in Poland, and now 4.1.2 is on its way to the unlocked international Note II (GT-7100) and Note II LTE (GT-7105). According to SamMobile, this update brings quite a few new features to the Note II, including:

  • New notification toggles
  • Customizable notification toggles
  • Brightness slider can now be disabled
  • The ability to disable Multi-View
  • Browser improvements
  • Status bar is now black
  • Continuous input keyboard
  • New ink effect on lockscreen
  • New Group Cast app

Like the SIII's update, this one is starting in Poland for the GT-7100, and it looks like users in Sweden will be the first to get it on the GT-7105.

[New App] 'SendIt' Makes It Easy To Share Files With Any Platform Over SMS

It's becoming increasingly common for users to share files over mobile devices instead of more traditional methods. The biggest problem here is that there isn't really a "standard" form of sharing - unlike with emails, SMS messages can't handle file attachments, and MMS isn't the most practical way of sending most files (not to mention that not all phones can receive MMS messages). There are, of course, things like Dropbox and Google Drive that store files in the cloud and make them easy for users to share, but that can be a cumbersome process on a mobile device.

GO Launcher Dev Team Releases 'Next Launcher', The Insanely Expensive Successor To GO Launcher

Back in the Gingerbread days, I swore by GO Launcher. I tried all the others, yet it was my go-to on every device before the Galaxy Nexus. Sadly, as much as I wanted to continue using it past Android 2.3, GO became basically obsolete on ICS and beyond.

You can't keep a good team down, so the GO Launcher devs are back with an incredible looking new launcher called Next Launcher. As awesome as it seems, though, I can't say that its $16 price tag is enticing me to give it a try... at all.

As you can see, this launcher is all about the bells and whistles.

The Nexus 4 is unique among Android phones, as it's one of the first to feature glass on both the front and back. As such, thoughts of seeing the brand new handset covered in scratches has haunted my dreams since I first cracked the box open. Fortunately, Spigen has me - and everyone else with an N4 - covered, thanks to the new Steinheil Dual front+back protector.

Now, let me get one thing out of the way: I'm not normally an advocate of screen protectors. In fact, this is the first one I've used in... a long while. I may have forced myself to use them as part of a review in the somewhat recent past, but this is the first time in years I have personally chosen to stick a piece of plastic over the display of my phone.

[New App] Use Any Live Wallpaper As A Daydream In Android 4.2 With 'Live Wallpaper Daydream'

Android 4.2 brought a nifty, albeit it somewhat useless, new feature called Daydreams. In a nutshell, Daydreams is just a screensaver, which might be useful in some situations - specifically on tablets. For the current time, though, there are only a few different stock options for Daydreams: clock, colors, Currents, Photo Frame, and Photo table. There are also a few apps out there that have incorporated the feature - like Beautiful Widgets, for example - further increasing Daydreams' usefulness.

Live Wallpaper Daydream, however, is a little different. It's simple in nature: it lets you use the currently-applied LWP as a daydream.

Star Defender 4 Is Out - It's Like Space Invaders On Steroids

Many moons ago - way back in March - we covered a Space Invaders-type game called Star Defender 3. It looks like space didn't stay safe for very long and now it needs to be defended again, because Awem Studio just released the sequel: Star Defender 4. And if you thought three was crazy - wait until you see all the action packed into four. It's nutty.

Crazy, right? Like its predecessor, this one features a full array of enemies, as well as eight full missions with boss battles, bonus power-ups to help slay your foe, new weapons, and over 100 levels.
