About Cameron Summerson

Cameron is a self-made geek, Android enthusiast, horror movie fanatic, musician, and cyclist. When he's not pounding keys here at AP, you can find him spending time with his wife and kids, plucking away on the 6-string, spinning on the streets, or watching The Texas Chainsaw Massacre on repeat.

I've been a big fan of Battery Widget Reborn since we first covered it back in July of 2012. In fact, it's been installed on every device I've owned (or tested) since then. Why? Because it looks good, brings a lot of info to the table, and is constantly updated with new features.

Those of you who decided to unlock the bootloader of your ASUS Transformer Pad 300 were likely pretty bummed when the 4.2.1 update started rolling out earlier this month (I know I was) since ASUS decided that unlocked devices shouldn't get OTAs. Thankfully, the company just uploaded the full ROM to its site for your flashing pleasure.

Remember back in the day when MTV actually showed music videos instead of two-dozen different [completely moronic] shows that you don't really want to watch? Well, it looks like VEVO wants to bring that sort of always-on music video channel back from the dead with its freshly-announced VEVO TV. As the name suggests, it's a TV-like channel that can be accessed any time, where you can watch music videos in real-time with everyone else. You know, like... TV.

And here we are, 50 minutes later. Tickets for I/IO 2013 are officially sold out. Congrats to everyone who got one!

AnDevCon, or Android Developer Conference if you'd prefer, is a biannual conference where Android devs can get together, talk shop, and learn about things that interest them. Topics such as developer tools, Android app optimization, Fragments, renderscript, and much more can be found on the list of classes you'll find at the fifth AnDevCon, so there should be something for everyone – from the aspiring developer to the seasoned pro. Not only that, but you'll find speakers from some of the biggest companies in mobile, like Facebook, Google, Tumblr, and more. It's a pretty big deal.

Nuance released its take on voice actions – Dragon Mobile Assistant – back in October of 2012, aiming to put "a Jarvis-like mini-mobile voice-enabled assistant" by your side. That's a huge order to fill, but the company is definitely edging towards a fully voice-controlled mobile, and today's update makes the app even more useful by adding a handful of new features.

Streaming internet radio is far from a new concept, but if you're a doubleTwist user who longs to journey outside the realm of your personal collection, it has previously required the use of another service, like Pandora or Spotify. If, like me, it's your druthers to unify everything, today brings about some good news: doubleTwist now has its own built-in streaming radio.

Ice Cream Sandwich may have been good enough for James Bond, but the Android die-hards who nabbed Sony's Xperia TL on AT&T want more. And by "more," we mean "an update to a newer version of Android." Fortunately, that's finally available.

We love RSS. We also love DashClock. So when we heard about a new DC extension that marries the two, well, we had to check it out.

Samsung has been babbling about its Unicorn Apocalypse game for a while now. Turns out that it's not only a real thing, but it's actually in the Play Store. It also appears to be pretty crappy judging by the two-star rating. Ouch.

Otterbox is known for making some of the most protective cases on the planet. The Defender Series, one of its most protective, is gearing up for a major upgrade: a built-in battery. Simply called the Defender Series with iON Intelligence, the case should effectively double the battery life of supported smartphones. Right out of the gate, it looks like the company plans on making it available for the iPhone and Galaxy S III, though hopefully cases for other handsets are in the works.

It's been a long time coming, but Sprint's version of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is finally getting updated to Jelly Bean (Android 4.2.1). There are quite a few reasons to pull this update, as it brings several enhancements over Ice Cream Sandwich, including Google Now, Project Butter (for smoothness), enhanced notifications, lockscreen widgets, and much more.

We're four days ahead of Samsung's Galaxy S IV announcement event in NYC, and some alleged images of the device have made their way onto a Chinese forum. Before we even discuss the potential legitimacy, though, let's not forget that Samsung was able to keep the GSIII under wraps until the very day it was ready to show it off to the world. The company shared how it did that shortly after the GSIII's release, where it detailed the extreme security measures used to ensure the device remained a mystery. These tactics also included putting the handset into several different fake shells, so when the inevitable images showed up online, it was nearly impossible to discern the real thing from fake.

There's no denying the value in Google Music – it lets you store all of your tunes in the cloud and take them everywhere you go without using up precious free space on your device. The problem is, however, that you have to use Google's proprietary player to stream the music. If you prefer something like PowerAMP, Winamp, or one of the many other media players in the Play Store, you're simply out of luck.

The Galaxy S IV is coming. As such, vendors who bought a huge backstock of Galaxy S IIIs need to clear 'em out and make some room. That can only mean one thing: lower prices. Today, you can get a brand-new, factory unlocked Galaxy S III (GT-i9300) for $470. No contracts. No carrier crap. Just a phone that you can activate on any compatible GSM carrier.

It's no secret that Handy Apps puts out some useful and, well... handy, apps. Need a way to keep your passwords locked up tight? Look no further than PassWallet. No worries – Photo Locker or Video Locker should do the trick.

I don't know about you, but it's my dream that one day I can completely ditch my cable company for an a la carte solution where I only get the channels I actually want. I feel like we're edging that way at a snail's pace, even though most streaming channels still require cable service before they'll offer up shows on mobile.

Vector Unit – the development team behind Riptide GP, Shine Runner, and Beach Buggy Blitz – has long been taking advantage of NVIDIA's Tegra processors. In fact, Riptide was one of the games used to show off the power of the Tegra 2 back in the day, and it was even updated to add enhanced graphics for the Tegra 3, once again highlighting the power of Tegra.

If you have a Facebook page for a group, business, or the like, then you should have Facebook Pages Manager installed. Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to do anything with that page while on-the-go. If you've already been using FBPM for a while, then you're probably familiar with its quirks, as well as its missing features. Facebook is looking to alleviate at least a bit of your frustration, as the company pushed a small update today that actually brings some fixes and adds new functionality to the app:

Good graphics: check. Mythical creatures: check. Blood, violence, and a shamed gladiator set on revenge: check, check, and check. If all those are all on your list of "things for a good mobile game," then Gamelion Studios' Rage of the Gladiator should fit the bill pretty well.
