Koush's Superuser App Now An Integral Part Of CyanogenMod, But You Won't Find It In The App Tray

A few days ago, Koush released his newly-updated Superuser app into the Play Store. At the time, he noted that it would be integrated into CyanogenMod nightlies in upcoming builds. As of the latest releases, the app is now the go-to for Su access on your device – but there's a kicker: if you go looking for it, you won't find it in the app tray.

You see, CM decided to literally integrate the app into the system, so you'll actually find it in the Settings > Superuser section. Of course, this doesn't affect the app's functionality in any way, and you can still use another Su app if you so choose.

Purported Screenshots From The U.S. Variants Of The Galaxy S IV Show Up, Show Off 1.8GHz Quad-Core Processor, Smart Pause/Scroll, And More

Well, we're little more than a week away from Samsung's Galaxy S IV Unpacked event in New York. You know what that means: rumors, leaks, and the like are all starting to pour in like mad. This go around we're seeing supposed screenshots from the U.S. version of the GSIV, which showed up on GSM.Israel.co.il. Sure, it's a curious place for a U.S. device to make its debut, but the shots are convincing nonetheless.

As you can see, this confirms a few things right out of the gate: a 5-inch 1080p display and 1.8GHz quad-core chip. Past that, all other pertinent information has been blurred, so at least next week still holds some surprises.

Autodesk's Recently-Acquired 'Socialcam' Updated To v2, Brings New Filters, FFC Support, And An All-New Interface

If you like the idea of Instagram but it's just not live enough for you, then Socialcam is the network for you. In a nutshell (a very large nutshell), it's like Instagram for video. The app, which was started by Justin.tv and then acquired by Autodesk, just got bumped to version 2.0, which brings several new features and a new UI to the app.:

Works on newest Android phones

[Updated] Android Platform Numbers For February '13 Are In: Gingerbread Down to 44.2%, ICS Down To 28.6%, And Jelly Bean Up To 16.5%

It's the start of a new month, so you know what that means: time to look at the rise and fall of Android versions over the last four weeks. This month's numbers continue to look promising, with Gingerbread and ICS steadily sliding downhill and Jelly Bean continuing its climb to the top:

Update: Looks like El Goog made a tiny error in the chart, as it's just updated the page to reflect a minor difference: Froyo is actually on 7.5% of handsets, and Gingerbread is on 44.1%. Guess that's where the extra 0.2% came from.

When I first read the specs and saw pictures of the MeMO Pad Smart, the only thing that popped into my mind was this is just like a TF300, minus the dock. It was beyond me why ASUS would even build a tablet that is essentially identical to one of its other tablets. Sure, the price is $50 lower, but still – is there really a market for this?

I imagine that, like me, the majority of you also judged this tablet based merely on the spec sheet. This is last year's flagship, you might have said. And of course, I understand that.

Sprint LTE Goes Live Today In Nine New Markets

Network Vision has been a fairly slow process for Sprint, but the carrier is flipping the LTE switch in nine new markets today.

  • Altoona, Pa.
  • Asheville, N.C.
  • Columbus, Ind.
  • Elkhart/Goshen, Ind.
  • Hammond, La.
  • La Crosse, Wis.
  • San Juan, Puerto Rico
  • Statesville, N.C.
  • Temple, Texas

This brings The Now Network's LTE footprint up to a whopping 67 markets, some one-point-seven gazillion short of Verizon, five-hundred-million behind that of AT&T, and negative sixty-six short of T-Mobile's LTE network count (on a good day). Note: those numbers are estimates, and may not be exact. 

The company is still working on testing and implementing its high-speed network in other areas across the country, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York.

gReader Gets A Makeover In The Latest Beta, Brings Holo To Your RSS Feed

It's no secret that we're big fans of gReader here at AP, and the latest beta makes us love it even more, as it brings a complete UI overhaul to the application. The dev has redesigned the app to follow the Android Design Guidelines, so it's all Holo-ed out. And it looks fantastic.

As you can see, the new interface ditches the dark-ish theme to go with Holo light, which looks great and feels faster and more fluid. The overall layout of the app hasn't changed that much, with most buttons remaining in the same place as they were before.

It's more than just a live wall, though – it's packed with fun mini-games, including falling army men and darts. Those games will net you points, which lets you unlock new characters. So, basically it's a game on your homescreen (read: battery hog).

Pocket Casts Updated One More Time, Actually Has A Widget This Time

A few days ago, podcatcher Pocket Casts got itself a nice overhaul. The update brought a new UI, tablet support, a ton of new features... everything that one could ask for in a podcatcher. Well, almost everything.

It was missing a widget.

A widget! Every player, reader, and nearly everything else in the entire world has a widget. Needless to say, users were a little bit upset. Nay, they were quite upset. After all, if you don't want to open the app to control it, a widget is basically requisite. I mean, if you don't like notification or lockscreen controls, that is.
