Update: If @VZWSupport is to be believed (and after yesterday's Galaxy S II fiasco, I have my doubts), then the update should be rolling out beginning today, reaching all DX2 owners by the end of the week.

When the Droid X2 first hit the street, most would-be owners were extremely disappointed when they found out that it didn't ship with Gingerbread.

Less than a week ago, T-Mobile announced that Gingerbread would be rolling out to a limited number of myTouch 4G users on June 20th, with a broader rollout hitting all customer by the end of the year. In a strange twist, the Magenta Carrier updated the myTouch 4G support page this morning stating that:

Beginning August 5, you will be able to go to  a T-Mobile retail store to update your T-Mobile myTouch 4G to the most recent software version.

Logitech recently released its Q1 earnings for fiscal year 2012, and lets just say that the company has seen better days. Sales are continuing to decline, and the company is facing a $34 million charge due to an upcoming price reduction of its Google TV box, the Revue. In order to promote interest in the device, Logitech will be dropping the price from an outrageous $249 down to a more reasonable $99, putting it in the same ballpark with Apple TV and Roku TV.

Samsung-Galaxy-Tab-10.1-Android-3.1-Honeyomb

Two days ago we let you know that the 4G LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 was set to hit Big Red's sales floor on July 28th for $530 (with a two-year agreement, that is). That day is here, and right on schedule, the LTE Tab 10.1 is ready to go in VZW stores across the country.

Accompanying what is probably the best Android tablet on the market, you'll find a whole slew of accessories to optimize the usefulness and experience of the Tab.

In this day and age, we don't talk about minutes all that often, because, let's face it, most of us don't really use our phones for voice all that much anymore. For those who do, however, there is a specific need to monitor minutes -- whether prepaid or post-paid -- to prevent service disruption or, in the case of the latter, any overage charges. To help people in this situation, Yudiz Solutions developed an app that does exactly that.

In a move that will certainly irritate many people, ViewSonic has taken to its Facebook page with an official word on the gTablet, future support, and whether or not it will ever officially see Honeycomb. As you may have already guessed, the simple answer from ViewSonic to the latter is "no," with very little reasoning behind the decision.

The ViewSonic gTablet was one of the first Android tablets to hit the market with the NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset onboard, but at the time of release it was powered by Android 2.2, as 3.0 had yet to hit the market.

About a week ago, a seemingly official build of Gingerbread for the T-Mobile G2 found its way to T-Mo's support forums, suggesting an update was fast approaching. That suggestion was dead-on, as the official over-the-air update process started today, according to the Pinkest Carrier's G2 update page.

The update brings many welcome fixes and enhancements:

  • New features:
    • Android  2.3.3 (Gingerbread)
    • Tell HTC
    • Google  Books added
    • Notification bar color scheme is changed to black
    • New  battery indicator, phone, and web icons
    • Color-coded network icon and signal indicator added.

It looks like yet another leaked image of the not-so-illusive Droid Bionic has surfaced over at Droid-Life, but it's really nothing that we haven't already seen:

What this does bring, though, is some new information -- and I can't say that it's welcome news. According to the tipster, the Bionic is sporting the PenTile display that we're not the biggest fans of. However, s/he did point out that there was less ghosting than on the Droid 3/X2 -- but we'll have to see that with our own eyes to determine whether it actually makes the PenTile display more acceptable.

Sony-Ericsson-Xperia-X10-Android-phone-550x550

Update: It looks like someone in Sony's camp got a little overzealous concerning this update, as it's actually not available just yet. According to the Sony Ericsson Product Blog, the launch is coming, but "[they] just need more days before [they] can push the button." We'll keep you posted of any developments on this front -- like, you know, when it's actually available.

Owners of the Sony Erricsson Xperia X10, make ready your computers - the official Gingerbread update is ready and available to download.

Update: As if we didn't all see it coming (you should see all of the @mentions we received on Twitter regarding VZWsupport's history of ignorance when this post when live), Verizon Support just tweeted that they were actually referring to the Galaxy Tab 10.1, not the Galaxy S II. One of these days, Verizon should probably consider hiring support people that actually know something about the products in which they support, instead of a group of neophytes that know as much about technology as my eighty-six year old grandmother (read: nothing).
