Here's a tidbit of good news for those looking to pick up a new 4G LTE device on Verizon this month -- be it the Droid RAZR, HTC Rezound, Galaxy Nexus (granted that it actually comes out this month), or even an existing LTE handset. Starting tomorrow, November 8th, Big Red will be doubling the data for all new or existing customers who re-sign their two year agreement with an LTE phone.

We've already heard the rumors surrounding Barnes & Noble's next NOOK device, and now those rumors have been realized. B&N just took the wraps off of its NOOK Tablet, and if you've been thinking about picking up a Kindle Fire, you may just want to reconsider. The NOOK Tablet is rocking some serious hardware:

  • 7-inch IPS lamination display
  • 1GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB storage with SD card slot
  • Less than 1 pound
  • Great battery life -- up to nine hours of video playback; 11.5 hours of reading time

While the hardware is a definite upgrade over the NOOK Color, the look of the device is nearly identical, so owners of the original NC will feel right at home with this device in hand.

If you've been waiting on a new Gangstar game to hit the scene from Gameloft, the time is drawing near. The first trailer for Gangstar Rio: City of Saints hit YouTube today, full of all sorts of non-saintly stuff. It looks like a nasty, violence filled shoot-em-up, in true GTA fashion. Check it.

There's no word on City of Saints will be released, but it looks like it should be landing any day now.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, previously available only on the Flexion store and for the Xperia Play, is now in the Android Market. It's the same action-filled cops vs. runners game from the 2010 remake of the old-school classic, so buckle up and get ready.

If you're tired of Angry Birds (who isn't?) but still enjoy the flick-and-break game mechanics, the allow me to turn your attention to a new game called Princess Punt. The name itself is very fitting for the game -- it's weird, quirky, and eye catching. It's more than just a kill-things-and-get-stars philosophy, too -- it also brings RPG action to the genre. The developer is calling it an action puzzle RPG, which I think is quite fitting.

Last Updated: November 8th, 2011

With the Ideapad A1, Lenovo made it easy for those on a tight budget to get a tablet. Sure, it's no Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Transformer, but for kicking back on the couch and surfing the web, watching videos, or playing a game to kill some time, it's just what the doctor ordered. There are two versions available in the US -- 16GB and 32GB -- and the former just underwent a pricedrop over at Amazon.

A few months ago, an app called LBE Privacy Guard landed in the Android Market, which allows for fine-tuned control off app permissions, data usage, and more. It looks like the developer of said app has been hard at work since then, as a new, completely redesigned version is now available. While the name may still be same, the updated version is an entirely different listing altogether, and the previous listing has become home to a Chinese-specific version of the app.

With each new Droid device comes an accompanying game for a chance to win one, and the DroidDoes website was updated this morning to accommodate just that for the upcoming Droid RAZR. This one is a bit more simple in nature than those of the past -- it's a claw machine emulator. Grab the phone for the a chance to win. Sounds easy, right? Yeah, until you see all the lasers surrounding the device, making it nearly impossible to actually pick it up without frying the robotic arm.

Of course, there is a way to deactivate some of the lasers, and it's really little more than a popularity contest.

SwiftKey X is arguably one of the best keyboard alternatives for Android, and it's only getting better. The newest alphas (VIP login required) for both phones and tablets include a much-needed feature for any keyboard: multitouch. This will allow for even faster typing, fixing one of SwiftKey's biggest issues - missed and repeated letters.

Over the next few days, we would greatly appreciate your participation in Alpha testing our latest update to multi-touch functionality.

We've been hearing information about the HTC Rezound (codenamed Vigor) for quite a while now, and HTC just officially took the wraps off of this beasty. Like most other new HTC devices, it's packed with Beats by Dre, and, similar to the Sensation XE, has those wicked red capacitive buttons. It's quite impressive in terms of hardware spec:

  • 4.3-Inch 720p (1282*720) display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, 16GB microSD card
  • 8P camera, 2MP front cam
  • Beats by Dre
  • 4G LTE with simultaneous voice/data capabilities (like the Thunderbolt)
  • Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.5

Bummed it doesn't have ICS?
