We've seen plenty of el-cheapo Android tablets hit the market in the last several months - most of which are running a phone version of Android, with no access to the Market or other Google products. Looks like MIPS Technologies is in the game to change the way we look at budget tablets, as it just announced a $99 ICS tablet. Yeah - $99. With ICS. Soak it up.

The 7-inch tablet is equipped with a 1GHz single-core MIPS-based XBurst CPU, and has the features we've all come to expect from a modern tablet, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, dual cameras, HDMI out, and microSD card slot.

Looks like Verizon is going with the go big or go home motto pretty heavily these days - it has been attacking plans to expand its LTE network across the country with great earnest, and now it has entered into an agreement with multiple cable companies to purchase 122 Advanced Wireless Service Spectrum licenses for a cool 3.6 Billion smack-a-roos.

The deal, which will have to be cleared by the FCC, will allow VZW to grow its LTE network even further, giving it an even bigger advantage over AT&T.

If there is one thing that has been on my to-do lost for the biggest part of my life, it's blow stuff up with a tiny tank. Since that's highly unlikely to happen in the physical world, I can now turn to Tank Riders from Polarbit to fulfill this lifelong dream in digital space.

As you can see, Tank Riders is a damn good-looking game. The environments are rich, graphics are nice, gameplay looks smooth, and, best of all, you get to blow stuff up.

carrierIQ

We all knew it was going to happen - the first lawsuits are being filed against Carrier IQ and its data-stealing nature. Not only is CIQ getting hit with a suit, but HTC and Samsung are also being thrown into the ring since many of their phones support the software.

The suit claims that Carrier IQ is in violation of the Federal Wiretap Act, which makes intercepting "oral, wire, or electronic communications" illegal.

We first told you about DSLR Controller back in August, and there was immediately some kick-back due to its combination "high" price tag and beta status. Still, if you're looking for a way to combine your Android phone or tablet with a Cannon EOS DSLR on-the-cheap, Chainfire released a free, lighter version of DSLR Controller called Remote Release into the Market just a while ago.

Remote Release offers limited functionality compared to DSLR Controller, but may fit the bill perfectly for some of you.

Acer just pushed out the official announcement for its newest offering to the tablet world - the Iconia Tab A200. The interesting thing about this tablet, though, is that it's really not much different than the A500. Aesthetically, it does look different, but on the inside, it's nearly the same tablet:

  • 10.1-inch 1280x800 display
  • 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 2MP front-facing camera
  • Full-size USB port, microSD card slot
  • Android 3.2

While the Iconia A200 will initially ship with Honeycomb, Acer has promised that the tablet will be sporting ICS out-of-the-box beginning in January '12.
