Remember the colorful and imaginative tower defense game Jelly Defense that we took a look at several weeks ago? It just received a mighty nice update that brings some new winter-based levels, new gameplay options, new music, gameplay improvements, and performance enhancements. In other words, the developers packed quite a bit of punch into this one. Here's the full changelog:
Amazon started pushing an update to the Kindle Fire yesterday, and two words that no Android geek wants to hear were muttered shortly after: breaks root. Unlike the previous update to the Fire, this update can't be re-rooted using SuperOneClick.
It's not all bad in Fire-world, though; for the un-rooted, this update brings a number of fixes and performance enhancements to the sub-$200 device:
Tired of your lackluster music collection? El Goog is here to you help you remedy that with a huge sale on millions of tracks for just $0.49 in the Android Market. Buying single tracks not your style? No worries, most albums are going for a mere $4.99, too.
I searched through the Market for a few of my favorite artists - some popular, some obscure - just to see if I could find something going for more than $0.49 per track or $4.99 per album.
- New design of the photos album view
- People suggestions when composing a Messenger conversation
- New icons to show which photos have been uploaded to Google+ via Instant Upload
- Ability to leave one-to-one Messenger conversations

So, who's ready for another Story game from Kairosoft? This go around you're not developing games, managing a spa and inn, or racing your way to glory - this time you get an entire planet to yourself!
Epic Astro Story puts you on an untamed planet, and it's your job to make it livable. Once you've made your ideal habitat, the game isn't over - you have to protect it.
Gameloft has finally released its 2012 NFL title to the Android Market - NFL Pro 2012. Bringing full-on NFL gameplay to your mobile, Pro 2012 is a must-have to all you football fanatics out there.
The game features the full roster of NFL teams, along with a couple thousand legit players to choose from. You can unlock stadiums, playbooks, stat boost, and a lot more. The graphics make the gameplay as lifelike as you can expect it to be on the small screen, offering detailed animations for running, tackling, and touchdown celebrations - basically, everything that you would want from a football game.
Update 12/18/11: It's back again - all other variants are still showing the "sign up for availability alerts" message.
Looks like Amazon may be gearing up to start (re)taking pre-orders for the Transformer Prime, with the 64GB version in champagne being the first one to make its way back to the site. As you may already know, Amazon started taking pre-orders several weeks ago, but abruptly stopped (no reason has really been made clear as to why) and ultimately ended up cancelling many users' orders.

Looks like the incremental updates for Android 4.0 are rolling along nicely at this point - the VZW Galaxy Nexus received the update to Android 4.0.2 yesterday, and now Google has announced version 4.0.3. As you may expect, it crushes many bugs that have been found in current builds, along with throwing some optimizations into the mix.
This update will also bring some new goodies to the table for developers in the form of new APIs:
If, like me, you're a fan of the action-horror genre of gaming, then you'll be pleased to know that Dead Space just landed in the Android Market, leaving its EA Store exclusivity behind.
This gripping sci-fi thriller not only brings intense gameplay to your mobile, but a rich storyline and cinematic horror that is sure to chill you down to the very bone. Stunning visuals, along with a movie-quality score make this game a must have for anyone looking for more than simple puzzle games on-the-go.
