If you're looking for 4G LTE speeds without having to stay tethered to one carrier for the next two years, MetroPCS just announced a pair of new phones that may (or may not) make you want to hop over to the pay-as-you-go provider - the LG Connect 4G and Samsung Galaxy Attain 4G (sound familiar?).

The LG Connect 4G is Metro's most powerful phone to date, rocking a 1.2GHz dual-core processor under its 4-inch Gorilla Glass-protected NOVA display.

Just three days ago we told you about the 6.7mm Fujitsu ES IS12F, the "world's thinnest smartphone." Now, in what must be record time, Huawei has taken that title with the new Ascend P1 S, which comes in at 0.02mm thinner (6.68mm) than the ES IS12F. Tough break, Fujitsu.

Unlike the ES IS12F, the Ascend P1 S doesn't slack in the spec department. It features a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED qHD (960x540) display with Gorilla Glass, a TI OMAP 4460 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, an SGX 540 graphics processor, 1GB of RAM, 4GB built-in storage, 8 and 1.3MP rear and front cameras respectively, GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA bands, and Android 4.0.x, all powered by a 1670mAh battery.

Update: Here's our hands-on with the Excite x10 (note: we misstated that the processor is a Snapdragon S4, it's actually a TI OMAP4430 - we blame Toshiba's open bar):

It's no secret that Toshiba's first attempt at an Android tablet was on the receiving end of a decent amount of criticism for its less-than-ideal size, so the company decided to super-model up its newest offering to the world, the Excite X10.

Here's a bit of good news for all the OG Transformer owners out there - ASUS has confirmed via its UK Facebook page that the original tablet-netbook hybrid device will indeed be receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich. While it was previously assumed that ASUS would continue to support this older-but-still-awesome device, it's good to see the company step up and publicly confirm that the update is coming instead of leaving users questioning it for months.

At one point, tethering was a simple process - installing a program from the Android Market would enable the feature and you were good to go. Of course, carriers didn't like this, because instead of paying them an extra $30(ish) a month to use their hotspot service, you were gaining access to the feature for free. So they had many tethering apps pulled from the Market. Not only that, but many carriers put a block directly on devices that disallowed the use of common tethering apps.

There have been rumors of the Sony Ericsson "Nozomi" for the past few weeks, but today IT Pro Portal landed some exclusive snapshots of the device. The phone is said to have a 1280x720 HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, a massive 12MP camera, and is running Android 2.3.7.

Warning: Pic orgy!

While Canadian carriers Virgin and Bell have had Google's newest flagship phone gracing their shelves since December 8th of last year (that makes it sound so long ago, doesn't it?), competitors Rogers and Telus are finally getting their piece of the Nexus pie on January 13th.

There is no word on pricing at this point, but the competition launched the device for around CA$160 on a three-year agreement, so we expect the above mentioned duo to come out of the gate with similar pricing.

If the Motorola Droid RAZR's 7.1mm frame (at its thinnest point, that is) just isn't thin enough for you, take a look at Fujitsu's latest offering in the Japanese consumer market, the ultra-thin (but not all that attractive) ES IS12F:

The 4-inch device measures a paper-thin 6.7mm, weighs in at a mere 105 grams, and ships with Android 2.3 intact. That's not all this popsicle stick is offering, either; it's also water resistant.

We've been hearing quite a few rumors over the past few weeks that the monstrous Galaxy Note is finally coming to AT&T, with one accessory manufacturer outing a possible release timeframe of "early 2012." Looks like that may indeed be the case, as an official press shot of the Note with AT&T branding has leaked with the date of Tuesday, February 14th prominently displayed on the homescreen.

We completely expect Samsung and AT&T to make the U.S.

There's no doubt that white phones are (generally) sexy. We know this, and it seems that manufacturers are starting to catch on as well. HTC has a few white phones available, and Samsung has already pushed out a couple of white variations of the GSII on T-Mobile and AT&T. Looks like Sprint's GSII, the Epic 4G Touch, is now getting the snow-capped makeover that we heard about a few weeks ago, and will be available on January 8th for $200 with a two-year agreement.
