500px

If you're a fan of the photography-aggregating service 500px, then you may be interested in seeing what the company is brewing for upcoming versions of the app. Thanks to the new beta version of 500px, which hit the Play Store this morning, now you can.

All the latest beta features, and the silhouette of a moose. What more could you want?

The 500px beta app brings the latest features the company is working on before they're ready for prime time in order to let users not only check them out, but also report any issues they're having. So, basically it's just an open beta.

If you've nothing else to do over the weekend than sit around and play games, the Play Store has some mighty fine deals for you this Saturday morning. Here's the list of titles at the current time:

These deals are, of course, in addition to the SNK Playmore sale that started yesterday, which offers a 66% savings on the entire Metal Slug series and Blazing Star.

MetroPCS, the not-yet-T-Mobile-company, just announced its newest 4G LTE handset this morning, the Huawei Premia 4G. Sounds fancy, no? Don't worry – it's just OK. But for $150, you can't expect it to be a GS4.

1 2

And a GS4 it isn't. What is it, though, is a decent mid-ranger with some specs that should live up to its buck-fiddy price tag:

  • 4-inch 480x800 display with Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 5MP rear shooter, 1.3MP front camera
  • Android 4.0

Nothing super special about this one, but if you're looking for a decent mid-ranger and LTE without a contract, this may be a good way to go.

So, you want that Samsung Galaxy S4 gamepad, eh? Ready to shell out several dead presidents to make it happen? How about the tune of $113? Thought you might lose interest. Looks like US retailer MobileFun thinks that's what Samsung's gaming-on-the-go handset is worth, because it has the pre-order listed at just that.

Of course, it's pretty unlikely that will end up being the retail price. This is most likely a case of "let's go ahead and list this even though we've no clue how much it will really cost." The high price tag could be a deterrent to keep customers from ordering before they actually get the official pricing and launch date – or it could be a way of scraping the pockets of would-be customers who have too much money to spend and must have the Game Pad as soon as possible.

If you've been chomping at the bit to get your hands on the Chameleon update that Kickstarter backers saw earlier this month, the wait is finally over. Released just a little while ago, v2 is now available to the public.

This updated version of the radical take on Android's launcher brings support for folders and linked folders, app launcher widgets, updates to most of the stock Chameleon widgets, and a bunch of overall performance improvements. This is also the first version to support phones, a feature that has been long-requested by lovers of the launcher.

For those who only want the phone version of Chameleon, the team decided to release a more affordable version ($2.91) which provides just that.

books

If you're in Mexico and love to read books, your potential book collection just got a lot bigger thanks to Google. Naturally, I'm talking about Google Play Books, which is now live in Mexico.

See? Just look at all those Spanish words. There are plenty more where those came from as soon as you enable the feature on your device and start digging around for your favorite titles. There should even be a slew of books for free.

So there you go, Mexican bookworms, even more content to choose from. Go check it out.

Update: Here's the official post about it from Google Mexico.

shootmanyrobots

"Shoot the robots, kill them all, in the park, at your house, or even at the mall.

Shoot them high, and shoot them low, shoot them stop, and shoot them go. Shoot them here and shoot them there, you can shoot them anywhere!"  -Nurse Seuss (Dr. Seuss' lesser-known cousin, for obvious reasons)

If you remember that childhood story and developed a deep-seated hatred for robots as a result, the time has come to Shoot Many Robots. The game, which has been available for a while on other platforms, including PS3, Xbox, and PC, has finally made its way to Android.

facebook

Facebook may have circumvented the Play Store for one recent update, but it looks like the company decided it would take a more official route for a small bump that just hit. In this version of everyone's "favorite" social network, you'll be able to change your profile pic, hide stories and report spam in the News Feed, and get to group messages in fewer taps. Exciting.

1

Aside from that, well, there's nothing. It's still the same Facebook, where you can watch your friends and family argue over politics and religion, whine about everything horrible in their life, and ask for help on 4 pics 1 word.

vonage

If you're a user of Vonage's mobile app, it just got a bit more interesting. As of the most recent update, you can now video conference with other Vonage Mobile customers for no additional charge. While that's a nice addition in itself, the coolest part is that you can transition between voice and video calling on-the-fly. Basically, that means you can switch from voice to video – and vice-versa – without ever leaving the call. That's pretty rad in itself.

The updated app's address book will also display which of your contacts have the feature, so you'll know who can video chat at a glance.

lg-thrill-541px

After all these years, two star-crossed lovers have finally found their way back into each others' loving arms. Of course I'm talking about AT&T and the LG Thrill 4G. The two started off as a hot couple, but despite their feelings for each other, they knew it just wouldn't work. After all, one was a major carrier, and the other but a simple smartphone. Still, after months apart, the two rekindled the relationship for a brief fling that resulted in the Thrill getting Gingerbread. Since then, the pair have barely spoken.

Today, AT&T has once again proclaimed its love the Thrill – it's giving it Ice Cream Sandwich.
