Bertel King, Jr.
Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

HTCOneM8-Thumb

HTC didn't bump up the megapixel count on the HTC One M8's 4 "ultrapixel" camera over the course of the past year, but that doesn't make the company any less eager to show off what the phone can do. This year's flagship doesn't have just one camera, but two, and they're capable of pulling off no shortage of somewhat impressive, somewhat gimmicky features. Now, as the company promised on Big Unveil Day, the Dual Lens SDK Preview is available for download, waiting for developers to come and crack it open.

ZombiesRun-Thumb

The premise behind Zombies, Run! is pretty simple - there are some zombies, and you're probably not going to want them to catch you. Fire up the app, stick some earbuds into your ear, and run. No, run! You typically don't spend too much time looking at your phone while using this app, but (wait, why did you stop moving, run!) the new update to version 3.0 will make sure the app looks holorific the next time you do.

Last Updated: April 17th, 2014

The more rugged, athletic version of the Galaxy S4 is about to indulge itself with a taste of KitKat. AT&T has started rolling out an OTA update to its version of the device that will bring it up to Android 4.4.2. The company has provided the following changelog on its blog.

What's new:

GalaxyS5Black-Thumb

Samsung officially launched the Galaxy S5 globally last Friday, making it available for purchase at retailers all over the world. That said, not everyone is able to get their hands on it just yet. Sprint MVNO Ting isn't able to offer the devices at the same time as the carrier it's reliant on - but at least this time the wait isn't too long. Ting Galaxy S5 pre-orders are now available, with devices shipping out May 5th.

PlayStore-Thumb

Mother's Day will arrive next month, but it's never too early to appreciate that special woman who brought you into this world and/or devoted many years of her life to raising you. Many will be happy to receive nice flowers, a thoughtful card, or some article of clothing - but for that tech-savvy, Nexus-toting mom out there, the Play Store is here to help. Google has kicked off a Mother's Day promotion that will last until May 5th, offering up an entire year's subscription to certain magazines for just $5 and 50% off a good number of books (unfortunately, since there's no gifting functionality built into Google Play, you will have to buy these things under her account somehow).

HumbleBundle-Thumb

It's that time again. The Humble Bundle folks are back with another mobile bundle. This time we're looking at six games: Aralon: Sword and Shadow, Bag It!, Carcassonne, The Cave, The Room Two, and R-Type II. Three of these games are available for whatever you feel like paying, but you need to beat the average in order to get all six along with the next wave of games that's sure to arrive roughly a week from now.

BBCiPlayer-Thumb

Back in September, the BBC iPlayer jumped to version 2.0 and introduced the ability for users to download full episodes and store them for up to 30 days. At the time, the feature only worked on the eleven devices that the developers tested. Now it should work on any Android device running Ice Cream Sandwich or above.

Rememory-Thumb

There are nothing short of three-quarter bajillion things that need to be remembered over the course of a day, and we as a species have steadily worked to provide a solution that compensates for our forgetfulness. Notepads work, but they take up space. Post-it notes aren't all that elegant or portable of a solution. Smartphones, when combined with the right app, are pretty close to nailing it. But can Google Glass do it better?

Homesnap-Thumb

House hunting can be tedious, but the tools you use on your search don't have to be. The Homesnap app lets users look up information about homes and neighborhoods just by snapping photos of locations of interest. When it came to Android nearly a year ago, it arrived with an interface stuck somewhere between Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich. Now, with version 3.0, the app is ready for life on KitKat.

Retrica-Thumb

Retrica's popularity can be summed up in one word: selfies. If somebody - let's call her Sue - needs a picture of herself right this moment, she needs an app with a minimalist interface that doesn't get in the way. And since Sue Somebody is working with less than optimal circumstances and a mobile phone with a crappy front-facing camera, she wants a wide range of filters that could mask how bad of a photo she's about to take.
