Bertel King, Jr.
Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. He now lives in the City of Bridges, adjusting to the presence of actual snow. His phone of choice is the HTC One.

Knightmare-Thumb

One of Ouya's most popular exclusives has now made its way into the Play Store. On its original platform, Knightmare Tower captivated gamers with its addictive mix of simplistic gameplay and adorable visuals, placing players in control of a knight with a rocket thrusting him by fiends and through ceilings in a quest to rescue multiple princesses in need. Now the game is available for a mobile device near you

Knightmare Tower won't provide the most diverse experience, as each level consists of flying upwards, taking repeated downward slashes at ghouls pursuing below.

VoiceSearch-Thumb

Just by tapping the microphone icon in the search bar, English speakers can ask Google any number of questions and have their phone respond in their native language. Thus far, others haven't been so lucky. But now Google is expanding that functionality to more languages. Starting today, French, German, and Japanese speakers shall also be able to ask their Android devices questions and hear answers spoken in the same tongue.

The changes should take place server-side, so you don't have to wait for a update (as long as you already have the latest version, that is).

Nexus5-Thumb2

Update: Google has announced via Google+ that the update is rolling out today, and that in addition to speeding up focusing, it will add faster white balancing, less shutter lag, and the ability to pinch-zoom the viewfinder in HDR+ mode. The company also shared a handful of photos showing the difference between normal mode and HDR+ following the update.

Anchorman-Thumb

There's a sequel to 2004's Anchorman about to hit theaters in a matter of weeks, and on the off chance you have yet to see a commercial for it, Paramount Digital Entertainment has dropped a movie-themed game into the Play Store to get you pumped. As anchorman Ron Burgundy puts it, Scotchy Scotch Toss "combines the skill of tossing ice cubes into a glass with the art of not moving." If that sounds exciting, then you fit precisely into the demographic Paramount is trying to target.

Google-Thumb

At this point in my life, a solid 70% of everything I've ever said resides on Google's servers somewhere. If the company were to ever close its doors, those words would be lost to history. But that's about to change. Google's rolling out the ability to easily download a copy of your Gmail and Calendar data, so you can migrate it to another service when the unthinkable - or the inevitable - happens.

Quip-Thumb

Traditionally word processors have tasked themselves with producing nice, printable documents. Mobile versions have followed up with the unenviable task of replicating this functionality on much smaller screens. Quip throws this entire concept out of the window, instead creating a writing experience built for the ground up for mobile devices. The team released an alpha version over the summer, but it was little more than a demo of the iOS version of the app.

AdSense-Thumb

Google's rolling out an AdSense update for its Android app that should provide a better experience for monitoring your revenue stream on the go. Version 2.0 introduces an enhanced interface, one that presents new information in a more visual manner. And don't worry, the widget introduced in the last release is still intact.

Puppets-Thumb

Clash of Puppets may sound like it has a lot in common with Clash of Clans, but that's not the case at all. In fact, this game comes from a completely different developer. Clash of Puppets isn't a strategy game, nor does it have multiplayer options. Instead, Crescent Moon Games' latest title is a 3D platformer filled with plenty of hacking, loads of slashing, and even some blasting.

This isn't a 2D platformer with 3D visuals, but a top-down brawler with perhaps more combat than jumping.

DragonAge-Thumb

Dragon Age has a rich universe, one that has spawned novels, a film, comics, and, now, a mobile game. I know, try not to act so surprised. Yet though Heroes of Dragon Age may be free, it packs quite a bit of depth, as this is one adventure designed to forge the strongest, most-feared tactician in the land.

Search-Thumb

Back on the Nexus 5's launch day, Google announced an upcoming feature that would make it easier to open search results directly inside of relevant apps, rather than within a web browser. You'd be forgiven for missing this announcement, given everything else that was going on that day. This new functionality, known as app indexing, places an Open in app button next to search results that contains information better suited for perusing inside an app.
