Bertel King, Jr.
Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

Update: Good news! Looks like the 4.4.4 soak test is now underway on Sprint. If you're part of the Motorola Feedback Network, you maybe might possibly have access to it now. Hopefully everything runs smoothly so the full update will go out to all users soon.

Surgeon Simulator is a game where players will save lives, but this will come mostly likely after they've ruined many others. In this port of the popular PC title, players get to step into an operating room and do whatever it is their heart desires. The idea is that this will match whatever it is the patient's heart wants, but as we know from any simulation game, this isn't always the case.

You probably didn't wake up this morning thinking you need another endless runner in your life. I sure didn't. But if you're a Regular Show fan, then that alone may be enough reason to pay attention to Cartoon Network's latest Android game. If not, then maybe you will be enticed by the unicorns riding fast cars. I mean, why wouldn't you be?

Now that I've piqued your interest, let's go over the details (don't worry, this is an endless runner, so there really isn't much).

Now that Android Wear is a thing and watches are coming out that turn Google's take on the concept into a reality, it's time for the more budget-minded among us to turn their eyes over to some of the previous smartwatches that tackled the form factor before it was cool. One such option is the Sony SmartWatch 2, a device that was never mind-blowing but perfectly capable of displaying calls and notifications like the alternatives that have launched since.

Ingresst

If you've managed to stick with Ingress for a year or two now, then maybe you should show others just how committed you are. There's no need for anything extravagant. Those of you who happen to own an Android Wear device can just head over to the Play Store and give this free Ingress-integrated watchface a download. Then when people see it, they will be, well, just as confused as they were when they saw you hanging out by that old, abandoned record store last weekend.

Amazon's flaming media streaming and gaming box is currently marked down to $84. This is a savings of $15 on the original price. The difference here isn't enough to get Fire TV detractors to change their tune, but if you were considering picking up Amazon's little black box, this might just help with the decision.

We've put the Fire TV through its paces in a lengthy review, and to sum things up shortly - it's not a bad box.

You didn't have to be alive in the 80s to one day see Michael Knight's communicator watch in Knight Rider and know that it was a cool piece of tech. Sure it may have looked like an old Star Wars AM radio watch, but the functionality this thing packed more than compensated. This watch allowed Michael to talk to his supercar, and now a strikingly similar watchface has appeared for Android Wear, which lets you talk to your superphones.

Box

The Box cloud storage app has received a significant shot of new features today, the most notable being mobile support for Box Notes. Now users don't need to head over to a computer and fire up a web browser to create, view, or edit those portable documents. The editor can handle basic formatting, bullet lists, and the essentials. You also now have the power to make checklists both on the web or within the app.

The Escort SmartRadar is, unsurprisingly, a radar detector. What's perhaps more surprising is the Android app that comes with it. This piece of software lets users measure how fast they're going and receive warnings for upcoming speed traps. Someone out there may have a use for this, and said person may just like to know that the product is currently available for just $179.95 following a coupon code. This reduces the price down to $20 lower than what we saw it going for the last time around and $70 less than its current price on Amazon.

Gmail-Thumb

Update: Opening up email to a greater number of characters is a good thing for users, but it's also exciting for spammers. Certain characters - such as ဝ, ૦, ο, and the letter o - look very similar. Too similar, really. So Gmail will now block email addresses attempting to take advantage of this, and it will use the Unicode Consortium's "highly-restricted" specification to do so. Wဝ૦ο!

It may seem to many of us that there are an endless number of email addresses available out there, but if your name contains characters that don't fit somewhere between A-Z, that illusion is shattered pretty quickly.
