Bertel King, Jr.
Born and raised in the rural South, Bertel knows what it's like to live without 4G LTE - or 3G, for that matter. The only things he likes sweeter than his tea are his gadgets, and while few objects burn more than a metal phone on a summer day, he prefers them that way anyway.

Pinterest is all about sharing photos of things you like and browsing the great many items that other users have pinned. For such an inherently social experience, it's relatively solitary, despite people having the ability to comment on one another's pins. Users can recommend something for their friend to pin instead, but that's the social equivalent of handing someone a magazine clipping and walking away. Well, now Pinterest is reaching out to grab your shoulder so that your friend can have time to respond.

In Skulls of the Shogun, developer 17-Bit has brought scores of undead samurai to the field so that they may engage in fierce turn-based battles... to the death. The game has been around since early 2013 when it launched for Xbox Live Arcade, Windows 8, and Windows Phone. Before the year was up, the game moved to PlayStation 4/Vita and iOS. In May of this year, it hit Mac and Linux as part of a Humble Bundle.

The folks over at Laptop Mag have undertaken a test that really piques our interest. The results show that T-Mobile smartphones consistently get the best battery life among the big four US carriers. The difference isn't insignificant either. We're talking about a steady gap of up to three hours, depending on the phone.

In the chart below we see variation between the 2013 and 2014 versions of Samsung and HTC's flagships.

Uber and Lyft have both separately announced two similar but unrelated ways of doing the same thing. In either case, people will soon have the ability to share rides with others in order to cut down on how much they have to pay. Uber's announcement yesterday came first, but the two are too close together for this to not have already been in the works at Lyft as well.

In the former's case, the feature goes by the name of UberPool.

There comes a time in the evolution of every tech company where things just need a refresh. For Foursquare, that time is now. Last month the company branched its core app into two separate offerings, with the friends-hanging-out portion taking the name of Swarm. Now the mainline app's refresh has arrived, and it's all about delivering personalized recommendations. Think more Yelp and less Twitter.

The new Foursquare wants you to find places, food, and things that turn you on.

Kickstarter projects appear in any number of shapes and sizes. FreeWavs smart earphones come in at the small end of things. These wireless buds aim specifically at the more active people among us who are tired of cables getting tangled and holding them back, their adrenaline-pumping heavy metal music drowning out the environment around them, and having to carry around so many gadgets to monitor their fitness levels. Now the project has narrowly managed to reach its $300k Kickstarter funding goal with just a day remaining, gathering pledges from over 1,400 people.

Update Wednesday is here, and it's time to start things off with YouTube. The latest release makes the jump up to version 5.9, and it's quite a hefty one. This time around we see the file size jump up an additional 2MB. Here's what you're getting with those extra bits.

The site is offering the product in black, blue, red, and yellow. We haven't reviewed the Solemate Mini, but our Max review might provide you with some idea of what we think of the Jabra brand.

Shipping will cost an extra five bucks minimum, and then there's tax.

Long before Android Wear first appeared and made the Pebble's black and white display look relatively antiquated, the latter's physical design already left plenty of room for improvement. The newer $250 Pebble Steel spiced things up quite a bit, but until now, the original $150 plastic model has remained untouched. Well today the company has announced three limited edition colors to breathe fresh, new life into its intelligent wristwatch.

These three new shades - Fly Blue, Fresh Green, and Hot Pink - stand in sharp contrast to the pre-existing black, gray, orange, red, and white options.

Amazon is currently offering the Wi-Fi version of its 32GB Kindle Fire 8.9 for $299.99, a discount of $130. For an extra 15 bucks, you can get the variant without ads (excuse me, special offers) instead. The discount applies to both, and it's valid for only today.

Other variations of the tablet are also going at discounted rates, though they don't compare to the $130 savings we see on the aforementioned model.
