Now that continuous waves of attacks against Sony's servers have slowed down a bit (it's been over a week since the last hack), the company found some strength to regroup and released an Android client for its popular cloud music service Music Unlimited, powered by Qriocity.

$3.99/month for basic and $9.99/month for premium (30-day free trial available) buy you streaming of various catalogs of music from the web (à la Pandora) as well as syncing of your own library to Sony's cloud servers with subsequent playback from said cloud (à la Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Music).

For millions of coffee drinkers, Starbucks is a sort of a daily Mecca - they can't imagine skipping even a day, and spending over $100 a month on liquid caffeinated pleasures is pretty much business as usual. Because of that, unofficial Starbucks apps that replace Starbuck's own Starbucks Cards on mobile devices quickly gained popularity.

If you've followed the history of the most popular one of them - the 4.7-star Starbucks Card Widget, you may have seen that Starbucks actually C&D'ed them back in February for using the brand name, after which the app got reborn as My Coffee Card and was most recently featured as Amazon Appstore's free app of the day.

Fans of the Heroes of Might and Magic series, you may want to sit down for this one. Mere months after so successfully porting the Heroes of Might and Magic 2 (HOMM2) game engine to Android (see our review), the very same developer, a brilliant man by the name of pelya, now managed to do the same with the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 engine, dubbed VCMI.

Just like with the previous port, VCMI requires original game files to play, which I'm anxiously scrambling to dig up around the house right now. Alternatively, you can purchase the full HOMM3 game at GOG.com for $9.99 and dive right in.

While snooping around the Market this afternoon, I ran into Adobe's newly released product called simply Adobe® Content Viewer. With almost no description and usage instructions, I spent about an hour familiarizing myself with Adobe's Digital Publishing Suite which apparently creates content this Content Viewer is supposed to consume (read: display).

So, what does it mean in layman's terms? Content creators, such as magazine and newspaper publishers, use the Digital Publishing Suite to create distributable versions of their products, and the cross-platform (iOS, Android, Blackberry, etc) Content Viewer lets users sign into their Adobe accounts and view digital subscriptions on their mobile platforms of choice.

Shortly after officially adding support for the original Galaxy S line that is now approaching its first anniversary, the CyanogenMod team set out to prove once again that it's the single greatest ROM family in the world of Android, breathing lives even into devices that are approaching retirement age.

No, it's not a shiny new Atrix or a beefy G2x (at least not yet) - this time it's the good old gramps Motorola CLIQ, also known as DEXT outside the U.S.

While we've had a chance to put Samsung's upcoming flagship Tab 10.1 tablet through 3 weeks of rigorous testing, there was one thing left that we could not touch - the custom TouchWiz UX tablet interface, also known as TouchWiz 4.0. If you remember, Samsung announced last week that the first tablet units would be running pure Honeycomb, just like our review unit, with the TouchWiz upgrade arriving over-the-air sometime after.

This didn't stop Phone Arena from acquiring some Tab 8.9 hardware with TouchWiz UX already pre-installed and digging through it, looking for goodies Samsung packaged with their soon-to-come overlay.

About 2 weeks ago, Android Police in collaboration with O'Reilly Media announced a series of developer centric book giveaways. The prize of round 1 was the excellent Learning Android, to be given out to one lucky reader, as selected by the joint AP/O'Reilly panel.

After looking over 300+ entries, we could not agree on the single best answer, so instead of giving out 1 book, we're going to give out 3!

Here are the winners and their comments:

Robert Dunn

Starting in fall I am going to start college in a computer science major. My goal is mobile development. I would like learn Android development now to help me in the future, and I will have to learn it in the near future anyway.

Not much was known for a fact about the next crown jewel in the Droid line of Android phones that played a such a crucial part in the growth of the OS in the past 2 years. We had a suspicion that it would have a 4" screen, lose "the lip," and gain a dual-core CPU and a front-facing camera, all while bearing the name Droid 3, but no concrete proof of any of those.

A series of Droid 3 training videos surfaced today, well ahead of the device's release, which is rumored to be sometime this summer. The videos clearly show and confirm a larger form factor with curvier lines (4" sounds about right now), an 8MP HD camera that is capable of 1080P video recording, an updated version of MOTOBLUR (just look at that lock screen), a 5-row keyboard with a dedicated number row, and an HDMI output.

To help aspiring Android developers get off the ground and develop our next dream app, Android Police has partnered with O'Reilly Media, one of the largest technical book publishers, to give away a multitude of Android books to our readers. Each week or so for the next few months, we'll be giving away a different Android book offered by O'Reilly, asking for nothing but a minute of your time in return.

Hello, Android (3rd Edition)

The second book in the list is Hello, Android (3rd edition) by Ed Burnette, released by Pragmatic Bookshelf in August 2010. Ed Burnette, who can be found at @eburnette on Twitter, is a software developer, analyst, one of ZDNet's Dev Connection bloggers, and a friend of Android Police.

Following in the steps of our 1st giant XOOM giveaway, we threw another giveaway 2 weeks ago with an even hotter prize - the LG G-Slate 3D tablet (thanks to NVIDIA again for providing the prize!). With close to 2000 Twitter and over 1200 Facebook entries, I am now ready to name the winner who will be able to shoot 3D movies left and right like it's his job, all while playing Angry Birds and gChatting his family.

This time around, we've opened up the giveaway to a few more countries, such as Malaysia, India, and South Africa (sorry, Argentina, you were removed), so that folks from all over the world could participate.
