Gmail for Android hasn't received much love lately, but Google definitely hasn't forgotten about it. The new version 2.3.5 (curiously, it matches the latest Gingerbread release version), which showed up tonight, brings a host of new features, including one that I was *just* thinking of yesterday after clicking the "Show Pictures" button for the 1800th time.

Verizon Samsung Fascinate has finally joined the official ranks of the ever-growing CyanogenMod custom ROM empire, following its brothers Captivate, Vibrant, Nexus S 4G, the original Galaxy S, and Nexus S.

A bit over a week ago, we decided to do something different compared to our regular giveaways and launched a creative contest with the Otterbox Defender case for the XOOM tablet as the grand prize. In order to win, all you had to do was produce the best combination of a XOOM and a reference to Android Police in one picture.

The unstoppable CyanogenMod, Android's most popular custom ROM, is gaining yet another cool feature as of today, which is kind of reminiscent of the exact battery percentage mod that has become one of my favorites.

The 5th Android Police book giveaway is now over, and we've picked the winners. A copy of Developing Android Applications with Adobe AIR will be shipped to each of the following readers, selected by O'Reilly and Android Police, who answered this question:

After 2 weeks of delays, the much anticipated Nexus S 4G update (Sprint only for now, sorry AT&T/T-Mo) to Android 2.3.5 (GRJ90) started rolling out earlier today. If you haven't gotten yours yet but want to apply it immediately to enjoy that nice boost to 4G speeds, among other things, then proceed to our instructions below - you'll be rocking the official 2.3.5 build in no time.

In a quiet update to the web Market, Google today rolled out these handy charts showing on each app page a 30-day history of installs. The charts can help gauge relative popularity of a given app throughout the last 30 days of its existence, but are relatively basic and not very practical.

If you've visited Android Police over the past weekend, you've probably already seen my enthusiastic review of Total Commander for Android, which for me is replacing both ASTRO and Root Explorer going forward as the top Android file manager. Ad-free, $0, root support, dual panes, plugin support, and other advanced functions, which you can read about in the review, make Total Commander an easy choice for both novice and advanced users.

Timed with the release of its newest blockbuster movie, Captain America: The First Avenger, Marvel Entertainment is also pushing on the mobile front with the introduction of a surprisingly well done action game and, separately, a live wallpaper.

When we found Medieval Software's new app called Dual File Manager XT yesterday, we jumped on it right away due to its 2-pane support. Ever since the '90s, 2-pane "orthodox" file managers like the Midnight, Norton, Volkov, and most recently Total Commander have been an absolute necessity on any computer I use.

In the 6th weekly giveaway of Android books, Android Police has partnered with yet another great publishing company that I'm sure everyone has heard of before - For Dummies. Don't worry, O'Reilly and informIT fans, we'll continue giving out their books as well, switching between all 3 companies as we go along.

Netflix this evening appears to have quietly unleashed the Android app on 16 more previously unsupported devices, all without updating the application at all.

In the past few months, we have been giving away various devices in what I dubbed the "Giant Giveaway" series. Despite having given away 3 tablets (the XOOM, the G-Slate, and the Tab 10.1) already, we're not planning on slowing down; in fact, we're going to accelerate the giveaway process. Rather than keep the giveaways open for 2 weeks, we're going to run them for only about 5-7 days instead, as otherwise our shelves will collapse under the weight of all the goodies and ruin them, and we don't want that, do we?In the spirit of letting you guys in on the best gadgets the market has to offer, today we are excited to announce that the prize for this week's giveaway will be the 32GB Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Wi-Fi edition (up from the 16GB version in the last giveaway). This time, the giveaway is sponsored by Beansoft, the developer behind our favorite Thumb Keyboard, which you can see pictured below. I have been personally using Thumb Keyboard on all my tablets (where it truly shines with its split-key layout) and phones, and yes, I've tried SwiftKey, Swype, FlexT9, HTC stock, Gingerbread stock, and many other keyboards, and I keep coming back to Thumb Keyboard (the text shortcuts functionality is pure gold).

Motorola XOOM owners, listen up. Rather than keeping my XOOM protected with the very rugged Defender case from Otterbox that I reviewed last month, I'm going to give it away to one of you, as you probably need it more than me.

I absolutely love posting deals and helping save our readers money, especially if the devices in question are brand spanking new. Therefore, today's late-Friday price drop on the Verizon Motorola Droid 3 that literally came out within the last few days, gives me double the pleasure.

Wow, what a week it has been! Our 3rd giant giveaway, featuring the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, has blown the lids off all other promotions we've done in the past, with over 6,000 entries via Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. Google+ users really kicked this up a notch this time around, as the new network absolutely exploded in its first week of existence, already driving more traffic to the site than Twitter and Facebook combined.
